Description

02/06/2018 - small tasting glass @Brouwers 't Bos, Ename. Hazy light yellow, more like milkshake IPA with medium white head. Nose is malts, bit fruit, spices. Taste starts bitter, bit malts, some spices, some citrus, bit green banana, bitter ending.

Pours clear yellow, light colored for a saison. Medium sized, pillowy and stable white head. Smell is bit phenolic, but not typical saison( peppery) phenols. bit herbal ( spices ? ) not fresh. Medium low to Medium intensity. Taste is sharp, bitter, very herbal, almost clinical due to the overuse of herbs here. Overcarbonated as well... not a fan

Pours slightly unclear yellowblonde. Small white head. Smell is esters, mild unfresh maltyness. Taste is harsh, bitter, very metallic, very phenolic, certain sweet undertone. Overall, unfresh, even spoiled ( rotten ) aromas are in this beer, making it a very unpleasant experience...

Bottlw from dranken geers. Another brewing company from Belgium making a triple and a double... when will it ever stop ? Anyway they also have a saison, so huray for that. Pours intensely red shining copperbrown. Medium but stable white, rather creamy head. Smell is sweet, fruity . Mild candy notes even . Not the typical banana esters. Bit red fruit, even. Taste is sharp, rather bitter, bit metallic , dark bread, mild red fruityness, ester style fruits but different than the regular banana kind. Medium thin body, medium carbo. Toasty ending , a tad too intense i'd say, but at least the overly Intense feature is a pleasant one. All and all a pretty well made, attypical double. Not sure about this being really in style, but at least its well made. Only a slight metallic note was perceived. If that would be removed, the beer would benefit from it and become even better.

F: medium size, tan to tanned, quick gone. C: brown, hazy, opaque. A: malty, light fruity, bit mellow cherries, red fruits, bit “woody”. T: light chocolate, bit fruity, cocoa, dry on the palate, bit cherries, medium body and carbonation, for me good balanced, and enjoyed, sample @ Winters Bier Festival 2017 in Waregem.

2026 rerate. Bottle from Hopduvel.
A: murky ochre, small, foamy, off-white head.
A: apple peel, pear, candied ginger, white pepper, bread crust.
T: sweetish apple, plum, spicy ginger, some coriander, spelt bread.
F: peppery & floral hops, yellow fruits, spices, warming jenever-like alcohol.
P: medium body, oily texture, average carbonation.
Original rating: 27/11/2017. 6/7/7/6/7=6.8.
At Winter Beer Fest 2017, Waregem. Shared with Anke!
Hazy pale golden with a lasting, small, white head. Aroma of lots of spices, ginger, hint of mint, yeast, banana and, weirdly enough, parmezan cheese (but that might just be me). It tastes medium to heavy spicy bitter and light fruity sweet. Dry, yeasty and spicy finish. Medium body, slick texture, lively carbonation. Spices galore, but quite well-made.
