Description
The Brasserie du Pays Flamand was founded in November 2006. At the start, a common passion of 2 childhood friends: Olivier Duthoit and Mathieu Lesenne, turned into a real large-scale project. The brewery first settled in Blaringhem, on the border of French Flanders and Artois. This is where Bracine, Anosteké and Wilde Leeuw were born. Today, a second, much larger production site has been set up in Merville, in order to meet growing demand. Each brew is a claim to their origins, to the northern terroir, and each beer, an invitation to conviviality. The different ranges offered testify to respected traditional know-how, a search for original taste, and a desire to discover new flavors. The Brasserie du Pays Flamand regularly collaborates with brewers from all over the world, bringing together cultures and ideas to offer you exceptional beers.

Bottle split at Chris and Ruth’s legendary pre-GBBF shindig 2017, day one, 05/08/17 cheers all for the beers ! Hazed amber to chestnut brown with a decent beige cap. Nose issweet, floral, spice, biscuit, toffee, fruit esters. Taste comprises tangy dried fruits, toffee, mellow barrel, light spice, sweet tunes. Medium + body, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a rising boost. Fair ... lacks depth for the ABV.

Bottle at C&R Pre-GBBF Tasting 2017. It pours hazy yellow with a small white head. The aroma is stinky, farty, wood, damp hay, vanilla, honey, candy, toffee apple, intoxicating alcohol, brioche and oak. The taste is tangy, sweet, sugary, apple, melon, candy, white bread, spice, dry wood, hint of vanilla, earth, brandy and toasted grain with a drying finish. Full body and fine carbonation. A bit heavy and sweet for my liking. OK.

The great pre GBBF bottleshare at ChrisO’s. Very hazy gold beer, good cream colour head. Palate is smooth and semi dry, reasonable fine carbonation. Thin malts, decent creamy sweetness. Nice mellow bourbon soaked fruits. Trace of coconut. Light brandy underneath. Mild ripe fruits on the back end. Pretty light and approachable.

Bottle shared at Chriso’s and Ruth pre GBBF shindig, August 5, 2017. Hazy orange, quite nice creamy look. Sweet nose, slight spices, pear and melon, relatively mild fruits. Taste has some boozy edge but remains creamy and is not really sweet which is definitely a plus. Liking that a lot better than I like triples usually.
