Description
The Brasserie du Pays Flamand was founded in November 2006. At the start, a common passion of 2 childhood friends: Olivier Duthoit and Mathieu Lesenne, turned into a real large-scale project. The brewery first settled in Blaringhem, on the border of French Flanders and Artois. This is where Bracine, Anosteké and Wilde Leeuw were born. Today, a second, much larger production site has been set up in Merville, in order to meet growing demand. Each brew is a claim to their origins, to the northern terroir, and each beer, an invitation to conviviality. The different ranges offered testify to respected traditional know-how, a search for original taste, and a desire to discover new flavors. The Brasserie du Pays Flamand regularly collaborates with brewers from all over the world, bringing together cultures and ideas to offer you exceptional beers.

330ml bottle from L’Abbaye Des Saveurs, Lille. Pours hazy blonde, good white head. Aroma is spicy, saison yeast. Taste is pleasant, summer, light spice, nice sweet saison yeast, some floral notes, smooth mouthfeel. Good saison, but being as it’s brewed in Belgium, I’m surprised it’s down as a Polish beer.

Bottle split at Cotts Convention 2, thanks to Ian, 05/03/16. Hazed golden orange with a decent off white head. Nose is yeast esters, lemon rind, straw, sharp citric notes, light wood must. Taste comprises pissoi, citric tinged straw, balsa wood, damp hay, light acidic tones, lemon rind, light funk layer. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Lacks depth of flavour for me.

Bottle split at Cotts Convention 2, thanks to Ian, 05/03/16. Clear golden with a moderate off white covering. Nose is yeast esters, lemon rind, whisper of cognac, fruit loaf. Taste comprises straw, earthy fruit peel, dates, caramel, more subtle cognac notes, yeasty tickle. Medium + body, fine carbonation, light warming alcohol in the close. Ok quad, the barrel is subtle, not particularly complex for the ABV but it sips along nicely enough without being too sweet or cloying.

Thx! Sampled draft @ Delirium dark red brown, little tanned head. Nose is big rotting fruit, bread, sugar, some sour red wine, overall spoiled dark fruit. Big rotting fruit, vinous taste, flat, raisin, soapy, sugar, bread, boozy finish, the cognac I suppose,… Thick soap, sugar & spoiled fruit body. Overall okay with a bit too many things going on of which I am not the biggest fan to fully win me over.

Thx! Sampled draft @ Delirium Hazy golden, little white head. Nose is massive white wine, white grape mixed with sour lemon. Big sour taste, lemon, white grape, zest, puckering, low oak,… Puckering lemon body. Quite basic & simple but a fun, easy & nice sour or whatever this is.
