Cloudy copper, big beige head. Lots of coffee in the aroma, bitter coffee ground, and some light fruit and yeasty cereals. The base dubbel is pretty lost, and hard to find. Hints of fruit, and dry dubbel style cereals and light metal, and minerals. But the coffee dominates, and even though it’s quite nice, doesn’t mingle well because of its overpowering nature on the beer.

Notes from 8/25/18 Medicine bottle from Bruisin’Ales. Poured into a Rare Vos glass. Opaque, slippery, dark yellow brew with a tall white, but quickly wilting eaten away head. Obvious smells of green & white pepper, but not as bold as I was hoping for. Cereal, faint lemon, veg, pithy lime. Taste is weak pepper & starchy grains. Carbonation is strong at first, but falls fast, turning the brew soupy & a bit difficult. Mild to moderate grain sweetness, leaving a bit of an itch in my throat. It’s okay. CBC made(makes?) a peppercorn brew that I couldn’t stop ordering pints of in the moment. All the extra grains in this just make it a bit mushy. Raw amaranth... well then.

Notes from 10/15/18 Bottle from Tasty Beverage in Asheville. Stubby pint glass. Brown on black. Minimal head. Toast, toffee, grease, dark fruit. Fruity, black patent, thin, half sour, light oxidation, bourbon finish. A fruitier, less layered sour bruin. Can't do more then one.
