US pint on 25th May 2015 at The Yard House in Irvine Spectrum Centre. Clear body with a red hue to the amber/copper colour (it was very dark inside the yard House: on top an off-white head. Malty and clean flavour, the nose also malty in nature. Mild hop bitterness towards the finish but mostly a semi-sweet malty brew which seemed a little one dimensional overall.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown with small beige head that lasts. The aroma is strong roast and coffee. Medium mouth, rich chocolate malt, light wood and bourbon with nice boozy finish, very good.

12 oz bottle poured. Pours a dark copper amber color with a huge foam head. Nutty grain aroma. Flavor is quite nice, with some nutty malt, sweet floral hops, and a nice, just hint, of spice. Very tasty, nice looking brew for sure. Enjoyed it.

Poured from bottle dark chocolate color with a 2 finger tan head. Aromas of caramel, vanilla, chocolate and coffe with a hint of booze. Taste is smooth with with notes of bourbon caramel and vanilla and a hint of coffee in the finish. An excellent drinking beer.

Location: 12 oz bottle from State Line, 4/1/15
Aroma: The aroma of this one is a little hoppy, with some chocolate and caramel notes.
Appearance: Pours a brown color with a very large, foamy, light brown head
Flavor: The flavor is along the same lines, pretty balanced, lightly sweet, medium bitter.
Palate: The body is medium, but the fizzy carbonation makes this fairly difficult to drink.
Overall Impression: I thought this was a pretty solid, but the mouthfeel is definitely a problem. The carbonation is so strong, it is the most memorable thing about this beer. Too bad, cause there is some good stuff going on here.

[2/12/15] Draught at The Sycamore in San Francisco. Black with a tan head. Big coffee beans aroma with some roast and wood. Bitter roasty flavor with some sweetness, lots of coffee and vanilla. Quite full-bodied.

Shared bomber, snifter. Bourbon/coffee/chocolate characters were all subtlety displayed. Smooth, smooth, smooth. No booziness. Very nice, really like it.

Bottle: Pours nearly black with a small, light tan head. Smoky chocolate, bourbon, tobacco aromas.... Taste is dark, bitter-sweet chocolate, dark fruit, tobacco and coffee malts.... Woody, sweet, big and bold... A really well done Imperial Stout.

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 10/9/2014. Pours fairly crystal clear deep orange/copper color with a 2 finger fairly dense and fluffy light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with some light streaming carbonation. Aromas of big tangerine, pineapple, peach, mango, lemon zest, orange peel, light pine, honey, caramel, light toast, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of juicy citrus/tropical hops and moderate malt sweetness; with good strength. Taste of big tangerine, pineapple, peach, mango, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, honey, caramel, light toast, and floral/grassy earthiness. Fair amount of pine/grassy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of tangerine, pineapple, peach, mango, lemon/orange zest, pine, honey, caramel, light toast, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity and balance of citrus/tropical/pine hops and moderate malt sweetness; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a very smooth and fairly creamy/sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with a small warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent DIPA. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of bright citrus/tropical/pine hops and moderate malt sweetness; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.
