22oz bottle pours a mostly clear orange with some clumpy, off white head. Nose is off a little, orange and mint, yeast, honey comb. Flavor is malty, grain, dried citrus peel, mint. Seems old even though I know it’s not.

LSAT Freedom Trip #98. Bomber from the brewery. Clear copper, thin fizzy off-white head, good retention. Aroma of vanilla, apple, toasted malt, cinnamon. The taste is ginger, vanilla, cinnamon, apple, toasted malt. Medium bodied, low carbonation.

LSAT Freedom Trip #97. Bomber from the brewery. Dark brown, large creamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of coffee and roast, mild whiskey and wood. The taste is chocolate, roast, vanilla, wood, bourbon. Medium bodied, well balanced, exceptionally drinkable.

Keg at the brewery. Dark brown with red highlights. Thin creamy tan head, fair retention. Aroma of strong raspberry and chocolate, mild roasted malt. The taste is tart, fresh and sweet raspberry, chocolate, roasted malt. Medium bodied, low carbonation, lingering tartness.

22 oz bottle poured into a Spiegelau tulip. 2015 capped bottle at 6.5% ABV, bottle #393. Clear golden orange with just over two fingers of off-white head. Aromas of soapy notes, grass, floral notes, light citrus. Tastes of sweet malt, citrus, floral notes, grass, light tropical fruit. Medium body with a dry finish.

On tap at World of Beer in Reston, pours a clear dark gold with zero head. Nose is almost non existant, some honey, spice, a little cake icing but not much else. Flavor has plenty of honey, some candle wax, mild spice, but not a whole lot. Finishes lightly sweet. A big miss.

22 oz bottle poured into a snifter. Black with 1.5 fingers of light tan head. Aromas of big roasted coffee, caramel, toasted oak, light bourbon. Tastes of roasted coffee, dark chocolate, some bourbon, toasty notes. Medium-light body with a dry finish. Pretty good but light on the barrel character.

Keg at the brewery. Clear amber, thin creamy tan head. Aroma of caramel, toasted malt, dark fruits. The taste is citrus hops, toasted malts, caramel. Medium bodied, well balanced, mild lingering bitterness.

Honey, marigold, dandelion nose. Clear yellow. Lemon, bubblegum and honey appear at midpalate. Finishes clean. Light, tangy, soft carbonation. More beer than honey, but really nice.
