2005 Bottle: Pours a deep, murky amber with no head. Aroma is intoxicating with sweet fruitiness, faded citrus hops, caramel, and toffee. Sweet and vinous. Almost a hint of red licorice... Flavor is mostly sweet and vinous too. Some faded citrus and light maltiness. A bit lost from the aroma. Carbonation is really near zero. I would love to have had this 1-2 years ago... Still, enjoyable. Thanks biggcb!

Bottle: Dark mahoghany pour with a thin brown head. Aroma is chocolatey with some roastiness and dark fruits. Some sour and tart notes as well. The taste puts more tart into the equation; dark fruits, light roast, and some more cocoa. Has a soft earthy quality to it, but retains a light tart feel. Different for sure, but certainly good. Thanks biggcb.

A hazy golden ale with a thick lacing off white head. An interesting doughy and yeasty aroma, with citrus notes, honey and fruity esters. In mouth, a good creamy mouthfeel, with vanilla fudge, coriander and curacao. Rich, creamy and intense. Bottle obtained around 2007. Tasted with Probstk, Jan 11 2009.

Bottle, 2005 vintage. First off, thanks Toby for sharing this treat! A bit murky brown/copper pour with a very thin head. Nose is fruity, light barrel notes and overall rather sweet. Very silky. Tastes fruity with bourbon accents, a light sweetness into a sour and tart finish. Very much an A+ brew.

2002 Vintage:
Pitch black coloured body with a nice dense brown head; fully opaque. Aroma of prunes, raisins, cherries, roasted malt, light coffee (south america), chocolate and a bit of cabbage. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong fruity taste of prunes and raisins fading to an inherent maltiness with a bit of spice on the side. Aftertaste shows mostly the raisiny flavour with some light malts and a very light-bodied finish for what the beer should have been. I’m not sure if the body faded with the age, but this is a lot lighter than expected. I sampled this 3 year old vintage purchased from Chevy Chase Wine & Liquors in Washington, D.C. on 25-December-2005.
