Description
In 2015, Ellison was created from humble beginnings.

At the time, Lansing didn’t have a brewery large enough to sell its beer outside of its own taproom. Now, there are breweries all over the map competing for marketshare.

Ellison has made it a mission to experiment. A continual refinement of beer, wine and spirits. Sure, we have the usual suspects, but we’re always looking for new flavors. With over 700 different locations across the great state of Michigan to purchase Ellison product, we’d like to say “people like our stuff”.

Draft at 8 Degrees Plato. Pours a deep brown to almost black with a finger of beige foam that dissipates slowly. Big vanilla, toffee and light chocolate caramel aromas. Bourbon comes out as it warms. More bourbon, toffee and prune. Really enjoyable.

Can from 8 Degrees Plato. Pours a clear gold orange with a finger of foam. Grapefruit, pine and toasted caramel malt on the nose. Extreme astringent bitterness with an unpleasant yeast-burn character on the palate. More pine and aggressive, 90s homebrew bitterness on the palate. Lingering bitterness. Lingering bitter finish that kills all nuance in this.

Can sourced from Beerdome and shared at home - hazed golden yellow with a nice foamy white head. Intense juicy fruity with waves of grapefruit, pineapple, gooseberry, medium sweet malty backing, soft creamy but also light pillowy mouthfeel, medium body, robust hoppy finish. Lovely.

Can from Holiday Market. Pours a murky deep gold to copper with a finger of white foam that lingers. Caramel aromas with overripe orange peel, pine and stale malt. A tad flat on the palate without much punch from the hops. Muted citrus, pine and caramel. Booze kicks in at the end with more stale malt. Drain pour unfortunately.
