Ellison Brewery + Spirits
Microbrewery
in East Lansing,
Michigan,
United States 🇺🇸
Associated Venue: Ellison Brewery + Spirits
Established in 2015
At the time, Lansing didn’t have a brewery large enough to sell its beer outside of its own taproom. Now, there are breweries all over the map competing for marketshare.
Ellison has made it a mission to experiment. A continual refinement of beer, wine and spirits. Sure, we have the usual suspects, but we’re always looking for new flavors. With over 700 different locations across the great state of Michigan to purchase Ellison product, we’d like to say “people like our stuff”.

Can sourced from Beerdome and shared at home - hazed golden yellow with a nice foamy white head. Intense juicy fruity with waves of grapefruit, pineapple, gooseberry, medium sweet malty backing, soft creamy but also light pillowy mouthfeel, medium body, robust hoppy finish. Lovely.

Can from Holiday Market. Pours a murky deep gold to copper with a finger of white foam that lingers. Caramel aromas with overripe orange peel, pine and stale malt. A tad flat on the palate without much punch from the hops. Muted citrus, pine and caramel. Booze kicks in at the end with more stale malt. Drain pour unfortunately.

Can shared at DACBE New Year's share. Pours a thick motor oil black. Apparently this is a store pick from Holiday Market. Did a side by side comparison with this and 2019 Gravity. This felt boozier on the nose with lot's of warming bourbon and cacao nib on the nose. Palate showed lots of wet barrel flavors with warming bourbon, mild vanilla and some fudge and cacao nib. Preferred the regular version, but this could mellow out a bit with some age. Still a BBA monster of a stout.

Can shared at DACBE New Year's share. Pours a pitch black with a small bit of brown foam that dissipates. Huge brownie and fudge-y bourbon ball aromas with oak and light toasted vanilla underneath. More chocolate bourbon balls on the palate with a viscous and well-rounded mouthfeel. Like a liquid bourbon infused brownie.

Can shared at DACBE share. Thanks Brian! Pours a motor oil black with small dark brown head that dissipates. Big coconut and mounds bar character on the nose with lots of fudge and cacao nib present. Bourbon is there with more coconut, oak and brownie on the palate. Rich and full bodied pastry stout with lingering coconut, bourbon and chocolate. --- Beer merged from original tick of Ellison Quantum Gravity on 18 Nov 2019 at 05:27 - Score: 9

Sergey's hunt, can
Black colour. Tired coffee aroma. Too dry and weak, it drinks like a Stout, nothing Imperial, with some dark roast, and some coffee; nothing bad, but that's it.
