Description

On tap @ Vrijstadmarkt Culemborg. Hazy orange golden with a white head. Fruity hoppy nose. Sweet taste with a hint of chalkiness. Nice long fruity finish. Wonderful golden ale, perhaps the best (or at least my favorite) beer from the Vrijstad to this date.

(Draught at De Drie Dorstige Herten, Utrecht, 26 July 2017) Hazy golden colour with frothy, off-white head. Malty, spicy nose with orange peel, apricots, hay and spicy yeast. Malty, spicy taste with notes of orange peel, dried apricots, hay, spicy yeast and a balanced earthy bitterness. Medium body, with a slight sweetness. Tasty and spicy. Quite nice.

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought from Brouwerij Vrijstad. Hazy amber with a thin white head. Malty aroma with some faint grassy weedy hops. Sweet taste with some wheat creaminess. Thin body and low carbonation. Vrijstad is certainly no hop forward brewery so it’s hard to determine of I like this Polaris variety or not; but it’s a gentle balanced beer. Could be a bit more lively with some added CO2 though.

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ van Rooij, Culemborg. Clear dark ruby brown with a thin off-white head. Malty aroma with indeed some chocolate and vanilla. Taste is medium-bitter and mouthfeel is really smooth. Bit undercarbonated but all in all yet another solid offering from Vrijstad.

75 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ van Rooij, Culemborg. Hazy dark yellow with a white head. Yeasty aroma with hops and hints of white pepper. Nice bitterness in the peppery taste with some sourness as well. Creamy mouthfeel and dry finish. A more than decent saison and one that will be drunk a lot by me this summer.

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ van Rooij, Culemborg. Clear dark amber with an off-white head. Malty aroma with some hops. Nice fruity malty taste. Quite similar to their keller only a bit higher ABV and some more hops. Very tasty and a lot better than most spring boks in my opinion.

33cl Bottle from Mitra Tiel. Hazy copper colour, thin but dense off-white head. Aroma of some citrus, flowers, nuts, hint of toast, later on some melon. Flavour is medium sweet, nutty, malty, weird fruity, watery, light floral, light bitter finish. Light bodied, watery. Smells alright, tastes weird, not undrinkable though. Doesn’t exceed average homebrewing imho.

Bottle @ derat, samll xample. Hazy orange color, medium head. Aroma is spicy, caramel, floral, cardboard. Bit bitter in taste, bit sweet. Meh. --- Beer merged from original tick of Keller on 09 Aug 2017 at 20:07 - Score: 5. Original review text: Vrij moutig en granig, iets rins, beetje karton. Niet zoals ik een keller verwacht eigenlijk
