Description
OPO 74 Brewing Co. is a Portuguese company that has among its staff a cumulative experience of over 20 years in the creation and development of special beers.

It was born from the desire to create a range of superior alternative beers, with a purpose that can not be reduced to the word premium in it’s label.

Our beers are produced only from the best natural ingredients without adding any chemicals, such as dyes and preservatives. We only use malted cereals, hops, yeast and water. To make them unique, other ingredients may be used, but they will always be natural and good quality.

Nevertheless the respect for centuries old brewing traditions, our production
uses the most advanced technologies and equipment available in order to
ensure the overall quality and stability of our beers.

Bottle @ Duque Brewpub, Lisbon. Hazy amber red with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel and red fruit. Flavor is medium sweet and moderate bitter. Sweet and light bitter finish. BB date is August 2019, but this one feels old as well. 170718

F: big, tan, good retention. C: red/amber/coppery, hazy. A: caramel malty, toast, bread, red berries, bit citrus. T: malty, caramel, citrus, bready, toast, dry on the palate, ok for the style, enjoyed, medium body and carbonation, 33cl bottle from Noshi Coffee, R. do Carmo in Porto.

F: big, white, long lasting. C: pale gold, bit hazy. A: malty, sweet grainy, papery, bit bread. T: malty, vaguely grainy, bit oxidized, bit floral, feels like old beer, light to medium body and carbonation, hard to average, not enjoyed, 33cl bottle from Noshi Coffee, R. do Carmo in Porto.

F: medium, egg-white, not long lasting. C: amber, hazy. A: malty, caramel, orange, bit bready, bit tropical fruits, mango, floral, T: caramel malty, honey, orange, light grapefruits, tropical fruits, more on the sweet side, floral, unusual concept for IPA but it works for me, enjoyed, medium to full body, medium carbonation, bit oily mouthfeel, 33cl bottle from Noshi Coffee, R. do Carmo in Porto.

Bottle sample at a tasting at troubles' place. Thanks Stas. Dark brown. Lots of coffee, some roast, some mocha, sweet, caramel, slightly sourish, bitterish finish.

Bottle. Color: Amber, very thin white head. Taste: According to the label this is supposed to be a barley wine...? Ok, there are some notes of a barleywine, but this one is lacking everything: Color, alcohol, taste, warmth, complexity and body. What remains is a very thin taste of barley, some maltiness, bread and a lightly bittery thin finish. And some lightly metallic and cloves hints too. Definitely not what you expect from a barley wine. Don't know if it's ment to be like this... Not worth buying...
