Description
2005 saw the acquisition of Jennings Brewery by Marston’s PLC.

In 2009, the Cockermouth floods had a huge impact on the business and the site, forcing Marston’s to implement flood safety features and barricades throughout the site. A few short years after the floods, brewing transferred out of the town and a mass rebrand occurred.

Marston's retrained ownership of the brewery (through Carlsberg UK) until it closed its doors in November 2022

Pours just a slightly hazy golden color, topped with a medium sized white head. Mild grassy aroma with a hint of malt. Taste starts medium bitter, some gentle lemony feel and malty back. Light. Fresh feel. Drinkable.

A really nice and refreshing bitter.
Clear golden color with a fine white head. Ok intensity in the aroma. Medium body and a fine carbonation. A quite nice and refreshing bitterness. Semi dry texture. Malty, floral and mild fruity flavor.

Cask at the British Oak, Kingswinford. Pours dark gold with a small head. Aroma is sweet and acrid straw. Taste has straw to start with a sweet lemon finish.

500 ml bottle, bought in London. ABV is 4.2%. Deep golden colour, large white head. Aroma of blackcurrants and blackcurrant leaves, a hint of toffee. . The flavour is medium dry with a slight fruitiness, which makes it quite drinkable. Decent hops in the finish, become sharpish in the aftertaste.

Cask @ Baum, Rochdale. Clear golden with a small to thin creamy head. Has an easy-drinking session texture, possible a little thin. There’s both a light fruity-floralness in its nose, and light watery-maltiness in taste.

Cask @ Waterend Barn, St Albans, during the Wetherspoon’s Spring Beer Festival 2015. Golden with a creamy head. Has light hops and light malts, which combine for a well-balanced ale, but not quite full-bodied.
