Description
2005 saw the acquisition of Jennings Brewery by Marston’s PLC.
In 2009, the Cockermouth floods had a huge impact on the business and the site, forcing Marston’s to implement flood safety features and barricades throughout the site. A few short years after the floods, brewing transferred out of the town and a mass rebrand occurred.
Marston's retrained ownership of the brewery (through Carlsberg UK) until it closed its doors in November 2022

Bottle. It pours a crystal clear body, golden in color and with a finger-thick, off-white head sitting patiently on top. There’s a touch of blackcurrant on the nose, but it’s mostly toffee-ish malts and citrusy, grassy hops that shows up. A bit thin on the palate maybe, not watery though, and quite soft. Some metallic flavors in the else bitter, citrusy finish. Toffee, oatmeal crackers and grains as a foundation for the citrusy, bitter hop flavors initially. Overall, a quite nice one, quenching and pleasant, but it won’t raise any eyebrows. 101129

Flaske 0,5l fra Eurospar Kræmer i Tromsø. Gyldenbrun med et veldig høyt luftig skum. God, svakt fruktig aroma. Litt gress. Smaken “lett” men innholdsrik. Søt frukt & gress. Overgang til en tørr syrlig bitter ettersmak. OK matøl. KI=6
