4th Sep 2017: Shrewsbury Bottle Share in Chez Sophie. And tonight's 'Cobweb Beer' is a 330ml bottle of this, The Dizzy Bull, cheers Mike for storing this for over 14 years or so. It poured a misty golden colour and had a small white head on the four glasses in front of us. An old Barley Wine came to mind as I sniffed and took a sip. Seems a shame to score this because it was so old, but I have been kind.

330ml bottle @ monthly tasting, Chez Sophie, Sep 17. Approximately 15 years old. Pours a hazy amber, small white head. Aroma of cobwebs, cardboard, dust. Taste mirrors the cardboard and boozy dust. I imagine this tasted better 15 years ago.

The best-known beer from Maasland in Oss, often regarded as a classical Dutch triple - conveniently forgetting the style originated in Belgium. Yellowish white, moussy, thick, sticky foam, colour a deep golden orange blonde, clear with equally divided, minute yeast particles. Aroma of apple, apricot, orange, grapefruit, pale malts, flowery hops, cheese, wet straw, bark, pepper, soap, honey and white bread. Fruity taste on a grainy background, some citrussy freshness, vague sweetishness with faint wheat sourishness, gradually becoming more dominated by herbal hops, finishing bitter. Not too bad but nothing special compared to the big Belgian tripels.

Bottled. A dark brown beer with a lazing brown head. The aroma has notes of alcohol, metal, malt, and oxydation. The flavor is sweet with notes of metal, oxydation, malt, and caramel, leading to a dry metallic finish.

Bottle 30 cl. Pours a clear, dark brown with an orange hue and a light brown head. Oxidized, raisiny aroma - more than roasted malt. Rich, sweet body, licorice and dark, dried fruit - oxidized. A light but gentle acidity. No real bitterness and the alcohol is rather downplayed. A little smoke comes late. 080614
