Bottle. Look: Red brown colour, no head. Smell: Syrup, raisins, small smokeiness. Taste: Fruity session beer at first, the aftertaste is more complex. Syrup, raisin, some roasted tones, small bitterness, nutty. Overall: Smooth, well made. Interesting.

(Bottle, vintage 2006, Ölbaren, Copenhagen, 14 Feb 2009) Amber to ruby colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, fruity nose with citrus, caramel and orange marmalade. Malty, fruity taste with notes of orange peel and caramel. Some spicy, citrussy hops. Slightly vinous and rather sweet. Fairly well balanced for the abv. Nice one.

500ml stylish swing-top bottle (bb.10.04.2009) bought at Gammel Strand Øl og Vin in Copenhagen, and cellared for a few months. Light brown coloured head resting all the way over an almost jet black body. Fading lacings on the glass. Very pleasant aroma of chocolate and coffee with smooth liquorice beneath. Rich in flavour with lots of roasted, dark chocolate added by an herbal touch. The best part is the lingering bittersweet finish. The warming and full bodied ale gave me an hour of drinking joy at home in Tromsø (14.02.2009).

Draft. A hazy golden beer with athin lazing beige head. The aroma is acidic, fruity, and a bit of brettanomyces. The flavor is acidic with notes of fruit especially citrus, and brettanomyces, leading to a tart finish.

From tap at Lord Nelson. Pours hazy to murky orange with a small white head leaving a nice lacework on the glass. Yeasty and fruity aroma, slight wooden accent. Subdued sweet and slight acidic initial flavour. Light acetone note following. Quite biscuit malty and somewhat hoppy underneath. Dry and fruity finish, semi tart and dry.

Bottle, kindly provided by the brewer. A clear, amber to copper beer with a nice off-white head. Beefstock, pinecones, resin and alcohol in the aroma. Quite hoppy for a doppelbock, but pleasant. Malty and hoppy flavors blends nicely, giving beefstock, some sweetness, pinecones, resin and a fine bitterness. Finishes in the same way. Fullbodied. A quite nice one, not spot on the style, but a nice twist. (081003)

(Bottle at One Pint, Helsinki, at the end of 2007) Hops both in nose and in taste. Not so harsh bitterness but still you can clearly feel it. Quite strong bodied. Balanced beer but a little bit dull.

Clear brown with large beige head. Sweet aroma with roasted malt, caramel and spices. Sweet flavour that goes same way hints of carnations. Sweet finished. Lack the vinious character that normally charatorizes this type.
