From cask at Open Baladin. Pours dark brown to black with a small tan head. Aroma is dark roasted malt and distinct chocolate. Vague acidic hard roasted malt note. Light bitterness lurking through. Lingering dark roasted malt into a mild acidic finish.

Bottle at home ... From my RBESG 10 Haul .... 2009 (no mention of vieille cuvve and 10.5% ... Unfortunately Stella would not get au natural to drink this one ... deep brown black ... big toffee roast ... loads of spice nose ... spiced malts ... soft juicy ... nice roast ... loads of dark fruits ... plums and raisins ... rich complex ... Think im really glad i brought a full bottle of this one back ... as lm enjoying this one and really enjoying the bigger sample.

Bottle 375ml.Clear medium brown color with a average to large, frothy to creamy, good to fair lacing, fully lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, berry, overripped raisin, wood. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, dry. Body is medium, texture is oily and sticky, carbonation is soft. [20100602]

Bottle 37,5 cl. RBESG Rome 2010. Pours a cloudy and opaque dark nutty brown with an off-white head. Discreet and lightly tart aroma - a little wood and burned caramel. Medium body, again lightly tart, some sulphur and nuts and a surprisingly good carbonation. A little cough syrup as wel. The alcohol only really shows in the finish that only has a vague bitterness. 020610

4th June 2010 - Bottle at Brasserie 4:20. Cloudy gold - amber beer. Good white head. Light dry palate. Sweetish malt. Starts crisp but then turns a little soft. Competent. Unremarkable.

4th June 2010 - Bottle opened at Brasserie 4:20. Cloudy red amber beer. Short lived suddy off white head. Light dry palate. Crisp light fruit and a little bubblegum and pepper. Herbel tea and cardamon and lavender notes (well spotted Rob!). A very interesting beer. The Italians are not scared to experiment and their beers are all the more interesting and better for it!

Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, caramel, sharp, sharp spicy and yesty, saffron, anis seed notes, light alcohol. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, spices, fennel seeds. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, finish feel is light alcoholic. [20100602]
