Bottle @ home shared with Dutchdrebus, Thompson and Bobson. Clear amber color, small off-white head. Smell malts, lightly caramel, don’t get much more. Taste malts, lightly caramel, slightly bitter. Nothing wrong with it, just boring.

500ml Bottle: best before Sep 2013. Poured at home into a UK pint sleeve glass. Reddy amber body, bright almost: off-white head of thin foam on top. Malts rule this brew: roasted, toasted malts to be exact. Fairly sweet tasting beer with a fuity feel to the malt molasses, toffee notes can clearly be found within the malty flavour. Crisp and well carbonated, easy to drink and interesting.

Cask at GBBF 2012, London. Pours clear brown with a faint, white film head. Fruity aroma, some dark malts, burnt dough. Light to medium sweet flavor with dark toast and dough malts, mild sugars, hints of cocoa. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Mellow doughy toast finish. Tasty mild.

Golden beer with not much head (though that may have been because I was trying to avoid pouring sediment in per the bottle’s suggestion and did a bad job.) Pleasant hoppy, floral aroma. Mild hoppy flavour that’s only just tasty enugh to avoid being bland. Decent enough but nothing special.

Cask at the Raglan Arms, Rugby - 19/09/12. Dark chestnut brown with ruby hues and a good tan head. Decent lacing ensues and retains well. Toffee, nuts and a little dark fruit and background chocolate on the nose. Taste matches exactly. Lightish body with minimal carbonation and a really pleasant smooth feel. One of the best milds I’ve encountered.

Cask at the Raglan Arms, Rugby - 19/09/12. Badged as Belvoir Best. Clear golden with a decent white head - really looks the part for a cask bitter! Very muted nose, really little to say other than a little malt. Taste is a big improvement on the nose with toasted malts, caramel, hops amd a little smokiness. Medium bodied, smooth and creamy, nice feel to this bitter.

Cask at White Hart Inn in Quorn, Leicestershire. A clean, yet robust bitter with a clear ruby body and thick laced white head. A hoppy aftertaste gives a lasting reminder of a very good special edition.

[500ml bottle that my brother shared with me - cheers!] Pours dark amber. Moderate fizz is annoying and doesn’t really suit the style. Toffee dominates, with just a hint of blackberries and a little leaf mulch. Far too sweet throughout, just didn’t do anything for me.
