Description
NOTE: This listing is for beers originally produced by Whitbread Beer Company which continued to be produced following its purchase by Interbrew (Inbev) in 2001. Any beers not produced after 2000 are separately listed.

The Whitbread Beer Company officially stopped making beer in May 2000, and sold its brewing operations and beer brands to the Belgian brewing group Interbrew in 2001 (which later became part of Anheuser-Busch InBev).

Some Whitbread-branded alcoholic beverages are still available in the UK, such as canned Whitbread bitter, but these are not produced by Anheuser-Busch InBev, but rather under licence by other producers.

Keg @ The Roebuck in Portsmouth, West Yorkshire. I was very surprised to find this now seldom seen ale that was a mainstay of bitter drinkers for many years. Whitbread used to brew this in Sheffield until the brewery closed in the early 1990’s. InBev now produce the Whitbread brand. This bitter is probably no better than it used to be, ordinary at best with a small sweetness for its flavour. Medium to high bitterness. Copper coloured with a small head.

440 ml can sampled in 2007. Reddish brown body with a medium sized beige head. Not much aroma, some caramel malt. Flavor has very light roasted, mild caramel malt and that’s more than less what there is to taste. Not much bitterness, thin watery body and short aftertaste.

Bottle @ random bar. I asked for the stout but I am pretty sure that this is what I got. Clear amber with a white head. Malty, pale, cheaper, more iron, odd lingering spices, almost mint and mineral bitter aftertaste, quite odd and off-putting, bitter and a touch of not the finest hops. Lighter bodied. Not too good.
