Keg at Moeder Lambic Fontainas, Brussels, Belgium. A golden/orange coloured pour with a medium white head on top. Fruity, yeasty, floral, spice aroma and taste with a slight bitterness.

Facile d'accès sur des arômes agréables, cette VI Wheat plaira au plus grand nombre. Pour ce qu'il en est des amateurs un peu plus avertis, ceux-ci regretteront trop de simplicité, une densité aromatique insuffisante et une longueur pas assez poussée. Je reste sur ma soif donc. En verre, il faut noter le joli blond doré limpide agrémenté d'une fine couche de mousse blanche. Le nez est sur le citron, la pêche, la pomme avec une pointe de litchi. L'ensemble fonctionne très bien. Sur l'attaque, de légères épices viennent agrémenter l'ensemble avec une amertume qui se veut sèche et herbacée. Une très légère acidité ainsi qu'une légère astringence viennent nous rappeler que nous somme sur une wheat, bien sue pour le genre, ces deux aspects peuvent être plus marqués. La deuxième bouche permet à une agréable amertume de se développer. L'ampleur est correcte, mais l’intensité aurait pu (du) être plus poussée. L’arrière-bouche déçoit, sur une amertume plus brute et moins aromatique, avec toujours cette petite astringence. Le final retombe alors trop rapidement pour bien parachever cette dégustation. Passable, mais agréable.

75cl bottle from Bierhalle Deconinck. Pours dark, as expected, with a large frothy tan topping. Aroma has roast, leather, liquorice, treacle notes. Taste continues a long a similar theme, big on the dark roasty sweet treacle vibe with distant woody coffee and additional cola moments. Gets a little watery and lifeless by the end. A 'dark saison' almost seems like an oxymoron. Replacing that sweet blonde complexion, with a darker appearance merely seems to take things towards a spiced christmas bock direction. No bad thing of course, but the saison label is perhaps misleading.

(Draught at Chez Moeder Lambic Fontainas, Brussels, 17 Oct 2018) Golden colour, slightly hazy, with rocky white head. Malty, slightly hoppy nose with notes of bread, grass, hay and herbal hops. Malty, fruity taste with grain, bread, hay, some citrus and a balanced herbal, citric bitterness. Medium body, quite dry. Tasty and well balanced. Quite nice.

Mostly clear golden yellow colour. Firm white head with good lacing. Aroma of nice sweetish tropical fruit, moderate bitter. Retronasal it's more bitter, but still fruity, with hebral hops. Flavour is bitter, fruity and light sweet. Medium bodied. Long dry bitter finish.

On tap at the Gist, Brussels. Amber,small off-white head. Aroma is quite caramely, toasty. Some butter. Light yeasty. Medium body. Low carbonation. Style a bit off, beer a bit dull.
