Description
In 2014, we started Verdant to make beers that we love. Nothing’s changed. It’s still about taste, quality, and all ’round deliciousness. Think juicy, hoppy, unfiltered, hazy beers that are always vegan! That’s us. Apart from the vegan bit. We’re bad at being vegan, but our beers are great at it. We’re independent, and always will be — that way we can continue to push boundaries and make beer we love, and hopefully you will love them too.

Hazy APA by one of England's top breweries in the genre, the now famous Verdant in Cornwall, canned exactly - accurate to the day - two months ago. Showcases the New Zealand hop variety Motueka, derived from Saaz in 1996 and since then a household name within that lovely bunch of exotic 'Pacific' hop varieties. Irregular, 'Brugse kant'-like, thin but delicately structured, off-white head, edge-retaining over a cloudy to milky ochre-blonde robe with beige-ish hue. Aroma of lime zest and lime juice (typical for Motueka indeed), green peppercorns, unripe guava, toasted garlic, carambola and pepino - but no exuberant 'tropicality', raw black radish, dry biscuit, pine resin, bread pulp, wet sand, dried out moss but also dank 'diesel'. Spritzy, dryish onset, minerally carb (quite 'developed' for the style actually), green guava and unripe peach notes, bit powdery, with rounded, dryish mouthfeel; dry-biscuity pale malt core, soggy cereals, soaked in the Motueka effect though perhaps not as brightly 'mojito'-coloured as it sometimes is, even though the lime-zestiness is surely there and even some fragrant herbaceousness (not in a minty way though - more spring-oniony). Nicely bittering finish - with a very late sweet touch of malts popping up suddenly and then fading again - with a kind of 'dark moss green' character, less exuberant than the countless 'tropical' and citrusy IPAs and APAs from this renowned producer, yet still dank, zesty and spicy. Not Verdant's brightest star, perhaps, but a very decently made one for sure, in which this brewery's craftmanship can easily be felt.
