330ml bottle. Dark brown pour, beige or light brown foam on top. Nose has light chocolate cocoa dust, sour. Well, should not be sour but it is. Taste is intensly sour, some cocoa and quite intense chocolate. Wild yeasts have done something here, beer is off but maybe taste has even contributed from this? Definitely not a dunkel, more like a dark sour. Not bad actually but definitely not as it was intended. Kind of difficult to attach some numbers to it.

Bottle from Japan. A few months old. A big almost gushing beige head. A huge foamy pours, dark black. A sour fruit nose. Slightly tart, ashy, chocolate, thin palate. OK. The tartness is off putting and unintentional.

Tap @ BeerFes Yokohama, September 17th, 2017. Light amber pour, some white foam on top. Nose is quite fresh, hint of caramel, barley and some grassy hops. Fresh cut grass. Has nice body, good bitterness, resiny and at the same time quite dry and smooth. Aftertaste has more bitterness, some malt cookies. Actually well done, better than I expected.

Tap at Osaka Beer Fes 2017. Seems to be a re-vamped recipe from their new brewer. Glowing cloudy gold. Nice citrus and grassy, somewhat pissy hops nose. Crisp hop bitterness, grapefruit. Hops are great, fementation could be a touch cleaner but a good step in the right direction for this brewery and its new brewer. 7/4/7/3/14

Fire Valley - Valentine’s Porter 5%  Served in a snifter, it poured out a reddish brown before settling into an inky black in the glass with a fizzy beige head that faded into a thin film. The aroma is pretty good: rich chocolate, hints of fruit and a few notes of smoke.  The body is very thin and the carbonation is raspy and round. The taste isn’t bad but is quite different from your typical Japanese Valentine’s Chocolate beer. It gives a hard to pin down slightly tart fruity vanilla roasty chocolate and mild brett (?) metallic notes. I’m not sure if this was intentional but it sure is interesting and unique.

Bottle. Butter nose, butterscotch, honey, some grapefruit and acid. Hazy orange-golden color with a high, airy head. Tart citrus flavor, lactic, creamy, buttery, nice grapefruit, a touch of cinnamon spice. The lactic flavors are all over the place, too much diacetyl. Oily, buttery body. Far from a properly done sour ale, but not terrible and glad to see them trying.

Bottle. Caramel nose, a bit of roasted rice candy, chocolate, cream. Dark brown with crimson tints, pretty, with a tall, airy head. Light body, flavor of caramel and chocolate, decent bitterness in the finish. Decent dunkel I would say.

It pours a nice looking honey gold with a bright white head of foam. The aroma is vinegar & butterscotch. Yuck, I am guessing this kettle sour was intended to be a Gose. Raspy sandpaper carbonation on a light body with a dry finish. The taste is gross, diacetyl buttery bomb, cardboard, skunk and ash. Worst beer I’ve had in awhile and definitely the worst from this brewery. Just WTF?!?! It isn’t sour it is just off as hell. Drain Pour.
