Bottle from Beer Ambleside. Appearance - black bit with some red chinks. Beige crema head. Nose - ground coffee and dark chocolate. Caramel undernote. Taste - dark chocolate and milky coffee. Palate - medium bodied if a little thin. Dry, roasty finish. Overall - decent.

Bottle thanks to Ashton McCobb. Pours clear dark brown with a thin beige head. Aromas of coffee and chocolate. Taste is a bit thin, cocoa and coffee. Not bad.

On cask at the Wainwright, Keswick. Appearance - deep brown to charcoal black. Solid, consistent creamy white head. Nose - caramel, honeycomb, smoke and molasses. Taste - caramel and molasses. Smoke and creamy chocolate. Palate - medium bodied. Creamy texture. Light roasty finish. Overall - lovely stuff.

Bottle from Beer Ambleside. Appearance - golden with a snow white head. Nose - lemon and barley with caramel creeping in. Taste - lemon, barley, grass, pine. Burnt brown bread at the end. Palate - light to medium bodied. Dry, roasty finish. Overall - ok.

Bottle from Beer Ambleside. Appearance - golden with a snow white head. Nose - light biscuit and caramel, with just a touch of lemon. Taste - again mainly biscuit and caramel, but again lemon just sticking its head around the door. Palate - light bodied, dry finish. Overall - decent.

On cask at Alexander ’ s in Kendal. Appearance - cloudy golden orange with a nice head. Nose - grassy with meadow flowers too. Taste - interesting resin and vegetable notes. A hint of orange too. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy yet tangy texture and a long dry finish. Overall - enjoyable and fairly complex for the low ABV.

On cask at the Britannia, Elterwater. Appearance - golden yellow. Neat lacing. Nose - caramel and an edge of orange. Creamy fudge. Taste - more creamy caramel and again a hint of an orange barely note. Palate - light to medium bodied and creamy. The finish could be fresher? Overall - ok.

29/8/2019. Cask at the Woodrow Wilson, Carlisle. Pours golden brown with a creamy off-white head. Aroma of biscuit, malt, caramel, hops and fruit. Moderate sweetness and medium bitterness. Moderate body, slight chalky texture, soft carbonation. Not bad.

Half-pint, cask ale at Sir Richard Owen (JDW) in Lancaster. Shared with Finn. Spotty lacing from a firm white head, misty yellow-gold body. Mild floral hops on the nose, doughy. Malt-fruity taste, moments of biscuit and grainy malts. Discreet bitter ending. Accepted. (06.02.2019).
