Bottle from Yamaoka. Almost black with a tinge of red. Low tan head. Rich caramel and Munich malts, with dark fruits in the nose; quite sweet. Nice dark malt flavor, with a bit of tangy fruit. Sweet, with noticeable alcohol. Bitter, rather hoppy finish. Rather light in body, with low carbonation. A true bock—nicely made with good, rich malt.

Not exactly a fruit beer, it is brewed with yeast gathered from cherry trees. Interesting idea. Very cloudy, orange-yellow color with lace. Muddy looking. Sweet malt aroma, yeasty, buttery, with a touch of caramel, a bit of citrus and some cherry. Sweet, creamy flavor with a bit of fruit and citrus. Yeasty too. Too sweet. Almost no hops recognizable. Thick and creamy palate, though, and an interesting yeast character. Original. Would be great if not so sweet.

Bottle from Yamaoka. Deep dark malt aroma with chocolate, caramel. Sweet yet well roasted. Deep black with red and orange traces. Smaller head than expected. Rich chocolatey malt flavor. Sweet and just a tad cloying but good roasted character and alcohol make it work. A touch of fruity tart flavor as well. Maybe too sour? Thick, rich body helps, very smooth. Well done Xmas beer.

Dark brown color, slightly alcoholic nose with touches of cinnamon and apples. Light and yeasty mouth with a fair amount of buscuity character. A bit chalky and unbalanced, but not bad. Yeasty finish.

@ GJBF 2007. Thin brown body. Aroma of sweet malts, cocoa, molasses, and milk. Flavor is bittersweet cocoa, molasses, toasted malts, light fruit tones. A pretty solid dopplebock.

Clear brown color. Toffee, caramel and milk chocolate are all ocer the nose. Very odd nose of fresh cherry blossoms, blood oranges, cherries, milk chocolate, but slightly sour. However, it got much better as it warmed up. Smooth toffeeish finish. The sourness destracts from what is otherwise a good beer.

Deep golden color. Very malty nose, full body with a rich malty mouth and hints of apricots and brandy. Rich malty finish. Nice. Re-rate at the brewery- grassy hoppy nose. A bit off balance, but moderately full body. Hops really shine are done nice, but the malt should be a bit cleaner. Still nice beer, with a bit more balance would be spectacular.

Hazy amber color. Plum wine, grapes and flowers dominate the slightly sour nose. Sweet, soft, malty, musty mouth with white peaches. The nose and mouth are quit different. Dry peach finish. Unusual and interesting. Definitely worth a try.

Pours dark brown with ruby red highlights. Creamy tan head. Aroma of toasted malts, spice, molasses, and alcohol. Flavor was roasted, smokey malts, cocoa, bread, dark fruits, molasses, and brown sugar. Delicious. Finished with nice bittersweet chocolate/molasses, and kinda dry. Tasty as it gets. Well balanced and complex. Full, creamy body. Enjoyed this greatly, will pick up again and again.
