Pint can acquired from a liquor store in the Chicago area several months ago. A cooler early June evening, I believe it’s time to sample this brew. My favored New Belgium globe glass gets the duty, I open the can and make the tilt. Dark gold body with a minimal white head. The nose is nice, I’m a long time in-between tripels. Extremely ripe yellow fruit, grain slightly, yeast and perhaps some spice. I take a sip and then more. Apricots initially, white bread, a karo syrup sweetness, yellow plums and a bit of booziness.Nice and thick, on the heavy end for the style, this pleases me. A good domestic tripel.

Deep dark, thin ring of tan foam. Definitely nose of marshmallow and chocolate. Kind of overwhelms any bourbon character, at least in the nose. But bourbon is there in the taste. Thick syrupy mouthfeel, more chocolate bar and marshmallow. Not much roast stout burn, but a sweet aperitif character.

Nice deep amber in the glass, with a thick head at first. Definitely getting both port wine and the whiskey in the nose. Taste brings in plenty of malt, though the mouthfeel thins out a bit. But then the taste thickens up, with nice fresh barley wine notes. End result is very mellow. Should have had this after the barrel aged stout coming up.

Had a nice, thin tan head, before I got distracted by sampling a scratch Brewing taste. What's left is a deep brown, not quite black. Strong Maple in the nose, almost overpowering. Almost like a butterscotch. But the taste brings in all those other adjuncts, and a definite backing of a mild rye bourbon. Not a bourbon bomb, like some other barrel-aged stouts. But, yeah, we definitely have a pastry type barrel-aged stout. Which is exactly what they were aiming for. (I had this down as a 2021 vintage, but it wasn't mentioned on my photo of the menu).

A pint can obtained from Gold Eagle Liquor, Libertyville, Illinois. This evening I have a Delirium snifter ready to go, the tab is pulled and I pour. The body shows an amber-brown color with a sparse ring of light tan bubbles. I take a sniff and get quite a bit of grape, yeast and some booziness. The taste goes a number of different directions. Caramel, malt, figs, grapes again, leather, alcohol and a bit of chocolate. More bitter than most quads and there is a moderately strong fullness. Tasty beer, I would like to find it again.

Draught @ Tapville Social, Napierville IL (Nov 2024). Dark brown with faint red highlights, small frothy beige head, dark chocolate-rum aroma, medium carbonation, sweetish chocolate-dark toasted malt taste, faint alcohol undertones, smooth body, long finish. Indulgingly chocolatey.

16 oz. can from Trader Joe's. Pours a lot of fizzy heads. Hazy straw color with lots of bubbles. Yes, the fusel smell of a cheap malt liquor. Guess that's all I should expect. But the taste redeems this puppy: noticeable malt, a little bitterness, but not sugary or headache inducing. Though I would not want to take a chance on more than one at a time.

Can. Pours hazy very dark yellow/orange with a very small frothy beige head, faint piney aroma, low carbonation, bitter orange peel taste with faint piney flavor, thin body, long bitterish finish. A good American IPA.

16 oz can from Beerbox. Aroma is grainy, sweet bready malt. Taste is lightly sweet with noticeable hop bitterness around the edges. Basic, well made, and refreshing.
