Description
PROGRESSIVELY OLD SCHOOL
We make craft beer with a throwback approach. Through a combination of time-tested brewing/blending methods and modern practices, we create beer that is complex, thought-provoking, and above all delicious.
AN ALE PROJECT
We focus on truly slow beer – mainly Farmhouse Ales and Saisons in our wild brewery and lagers on our clean production side – with a passion for experimenting with other wild and traditional styles from Imperial Stouts to IPAs to Dutch Kuits.
ROOTED IN FAMILY
The name Birds Fly South is a nod to founders Lindsay and Shawn Johnson. For the last 22+ years, they lived the Coast Guard life, migrating across the country. Their family, their flock, was always looking to find their back to the south. Once they landed in Greenville, Shawn’s final station, they knew they had found home.

Golden colour with lasting head and strong carbonation. Aroma and flavour have plenty of Brett funk. Also some sugary sweetness to offset the sharpness. Great thirst quencher

A little too spot-on towards American pale adjunct lagers, miles better than Budweiser but still bland and mostly nondescript. Slight grain sweetness, mild lemon-apple-bread lager notes, and a subtle floral bitterness on the finish. Eh.

Draft at Dominion Wine & Beer. Poured a slightly hazy dull yellow color with a small white head. Aroma was some wood, light tartness. Some sour grain. Flavor had some fruit, mild sour finish with a little bit of orange.
