Bottle, Wine Warehouse. Pours murky brown with an off-white head. Aroma is trash water, light spice. Flavor is wheat, funk, clove (enough to bitter the tongue), light bitter caramel, brown leaves. Grainy, bland, and overall though not a bad flavor, not great by any means. And the aroma is off-putting.

Hazy golden coloured body with a nice, rich white head with a lot of bubbles throughout, showing about four centimetres of head that fades slowly. Aroma of dry grass, a lot of hay and some subdued hops, a little funk and floral note and ending with some very acute sweetness and a dose of honeysuckle, coupled with a ton more dry grass and hay flavours with a little yeast complexity near the end. Light to Medium-bodied; Dry grassy flavour throughout with a big yeast and floral kick showing a bunch of dry and herbal hops and a definite complex yeast finish with some honey and citrusey kicks and ending with way more dry and grassy flavours. Aftertaste is dry, complex, grassy, floral and very musty with a yeast flavour that dominates and some more dry hops with a good malt balance and almost no sweetness at all. Overall, a very nice saison with a super dry flavour, some complex hop and citrus flavours and ending with a ton of coriander seed, flowers and grass that make this insanely dry. Great to sample and well worth trying, especially if you like saisons - this one is extremely dry, showing good complexity, just no sweetness or richness, which is okay, considering the style. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Costco in Pentagon City (Arlington), Virginia on 15-April-2017 for US$6,99 sampled at home in Washington on 04-September-2017.

12 ounce bottle from Beer Run. Hazy yellow, large creamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of grass, skunk, pale malt. The taste matches. Thin, lingering bitterness, high carbonation. Macro-ish. Meh.

Hazy amber and copper coloured body with a large, dense tan head, about six centimetres tall. Aroma of bright hops, alcohol, nutty and earthy malts, a dose of citrus and a good deal of sweetness noticeable at the end. Medium-bodied; Noticeable bitterness up front with a dose of hops with some more assertive malt notes with metal and a touch of sweetness on the end from honey and caster sugars. Aftertaste shows some light bitterness, a bit of grain, a hint of metal and astringent flavours and ending with a lighter touch of citrus and pine. Overall, a decent beer with some good malty notes and only a touch of the hops, but a good balance throughout with a more malty-than-expected body. Nice to try, but not really worth searching out for! I sampled this sixteen ounce pint-sized can purchased from Total Wine in Alexandria, Virginia on 31-May-2017 for US$3,44 sampled at home in Washington on 17-August-2017.

Sampled @ GBBF 2017, Day 3. A clear orange golden beer with a small off-white head. Aroma of strong fruity hops, apricot, resinous hops. Taste of resinous bitter hops, spruce, red malt, long bitter finish.

$4.25 bottle from Wine Warehouse. Pours amber brown with a soft beige head. Aroma is sweet caramel, alcohol, raisin. Flavor is smoked peat, caramel, alcohol, a little earth, minor fruitiness. Good smokey finish.

After going through my bottle collection, I realized my original rating was in the wrong place. This has been moved. Rating from 8/19/16: Vintage 2016. Rating #1999. Made a special trip to Wine Warehouse, even though I’m stocked up, to pick up three big beers (for #1999, #2000, and #2001) that I certainly hope to like. Bottle #1053/1440, cost somewhere around $4.50. Pours a mildly hazy brownish-amber with a small head that quickly goes away. Aroma is dark fruit, chocolates, alcohol. Flavor is sweet caramels, mild chocolates, alcohol, dark fruits - perhaps cherries, perhaps not -. I don’t find the smoked malts, unfortunately, but this is pretty darn good. Carbonation is a bit tingly on the tongue.

$5.45 12-oz bottle picked up at Wine Warehouse today. 2017 vintage. Pours clear ruby with a small off-white head. Aroma is sweat, whiskey, earth, wood, alcohol. Flavor is sweet, smokey wood, raisin, caramel, dark fruit, hint of chocolate, earth, light bourbon, light vanilla. Wow, this is nice. Smooth and not overly boozy. Excellent work.

Cask at GBBF. It pours clear amber with a bubbly white head. The is sweet, juicy, peach, tangerine, grapefruut, marmalade and candied peel. The taste is dry, raw bitterness, earthy, pine, resin, grapefruit, some cheddar, toasty grain and alcohol sting through the finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. More I have it the cheesier it gets. Nice aroma anyhow. OK.
