I started the evening at Taphouse with this beer, and it was a great start to a fantastic night. This one was very dark brown, not quite black, with a thick beige head. Aroma of black pepper, spice, grass, straw. Taste of dark roasted chestnuts, pine, pumpernickel bread, with a moderately bitter finish. Black IPS are a really good idea, and this one is a very nice example of the style.

Draft at VABF10: Citrus aroma, orange flesh and lemon zest. Clear golden, medium head. Orange and lemon flavor, fair malt backbone, with grapefruit peel hints. Solid APA and fairly well crafted.

Draft at VABF10: Gym sock aroma. Clear amber, thin head. Feety light malt flavor. The weakest offering from this brewer that I have had.
