Brewery draught, 8/4/26.
Soft, feathery heather-smoke with more of a phenol-like character redolent of very light iodine. Definitely not confusing this for a German rauchbier. Rich malt behind it balances gently and there is peppery acidity on the very end. Heather, perhaps, gets slightly lost in the shuffle.
Lovely smoked malt with a round, supportive, supple malt texture that is moderately sweet. The smoke steals the show and there's a bit of unfermented honey-like syrupiness on the edges. Heather not very prominent; not sure that I'd pick it out blind. So in that regard, a bit of a disappointment, but as a smoked beer, it's lovely.

Cask at the brewery, 8/4/26.
NOPE! Compound mid-refermentation flaws show a cask that has not been given proper time to referment after being primed. Sour, chemical, wholly off.
Same in the flavor. Just putrid. The draught sample we tried for comparison at least didn't have the aggressive off-flavors, but was thin, beany, near-sour and pretty close to undrinkable, as well.

This was never billed as a WC IPA (though I suppose it was never explicitly billed as an NE IPA, either), but they seem to have retrofitted it as their year-round WC now.
Fruity, soft, vaguely mushy-sweet malts show white bread and light honey. Clean and safe with round citrus and a touch of tropical fruit.
Similar flavors; soft, round, safe with lots of rather sweet, white bread-like malts and extremely low bitterness; certainly nothing redolent of a WC. As many breweries have done, in their rush to please everyone, they make indistinct beers that please no one. Stay true to what you started as, and make distinct, bold beers. This is pablum.

Very close to zero aroma, even swirling/trapping it and trying to let it warm/breath. Maybe some biscuity malt and a wisp of yeast.
Similar flavors. Very light, maybe not quite thin body with a lemony, light hop charge and biscuity-crackery malts. Clean, light, dry. Wholly inoffensive but also with few compelling qualities.

Yellow fruits, easygoing citrus and just a touch of pine give the impression this might be amply-bittered. Malts are soft, sweet, showing a mix of honey-white bread that easily balances. Clean with a hint of earthiness.
Soft and round, rather simple malt profile gives an unvaried honey-white bread character. It's not too sweet, but the extremely low bitterness makes it come off close to being too sweet. Hop notes are interesting/well-done. Yellow fruit, zesty citrus, hints of pine. But there's never more than a tingle of bitterness up front before being fully lost to malt.

Bit of earthiness/toastiness from the cara malts with red fruit and softer citrus behind it. Some base malt sweetness interjects, helping soften things and take some of the focus off the caramel. Fairly zippy, though far from the bitterness/acidity in a trad WC. Clean enough, though.
In the mouth the cara malts add more soft, sweet, round caramel in concert with the base malt, rather than any bready/acidic/overly toasted character. Medium-light body has light white bread character, as well, and is topped off with a fruity, citrusy, easygoing hop character that definitely lacks the assertive bitterness of a WC. I realize this is a blend/hybrid of a WC and an NEIPA, but I think it still needs significantly more bitterness. Just too soft, round, borderline flabby without it.

I believe this was now listed as a 4% Czech Pale Lager, but of course there is no evidence of that on their website (still listed as a 4.6% Czech Pils). Whatever the case, it certainly comes off much more the former, being fairly low in hop (though they aren't absent, adding dried herbs and a bit of earthiness). Malts are quite interesting and there seems to be an heirloom/proper yeast. Clean, crisp, with delicate honey notes.
In the mouth it's very light, though not thin. Low hop again, showing light, but bright dried herbs and lots of minor cellar/must notes from the yeast. Soft honey with a touch of cracker from the malt is fairly interesting, as well. Nice stuff, very cleanly executed and the yeast signature is quite interesting, I thought.

On tap at Aeronaut, pours a hazy dark amber orange with a small off-whire head. Aroma brings out earthy tea-like notes and a touch of spices. Flavour has a nice smoked malt character, light honey, and gentle heather spicing. Good use of honey and smoke, with a lightly spicy finish. Interesting.

On tap at Aeronaut, pours an amber orange with a small white head. Aroma has plenty of bready malts, toasted caramel, and gentle resinous hops. Flavour has a nice balance of malt and hops, with plenty of caramely malt, bready notes, and resinous hops. Resinous hoppy, malty finish in good balance. Very good.

On tap at Aeronaut, pours a hazy golden blonde with a small white head. Aroma has juicy stone fruits, pine needles, muddled earthiness, and light chalk. Flavour is much the same, with light chalk, pine needles, murky earthiness, and light juiciness. Muddled and incoherent. Okay.
