Cask at Pigs Ear. Barleywine? Okaaaaaay! Near clear but very deep brown beer, decent bubbly darkish tan head. Airy palate, semi dry, decent fine carbonation. Decently chocolatey dark malts. Oaty sweetness. Good ripe fruits, slightly berry and a little dates. Airy semi dry finish. A pleasant tasting affair, albeit a tad dry. Still not sure how this is barleywine.

Gravity Cask at day 2 of the 41st Pigs Ear Beer Festival, 03/12/2025.
Black topped with a tan cap that thins to the edge.
Nose is chocolate, toffee, dark malts.
Taste comprises cocoa powder, sweet edged, dark malts, brown sugar melt.
Medium bodied, soft carbonation, drying close.
Okay stout if running a little overly sweet for my palate.

Gravity cask at day 2 of the 41st Pigs Ear Beer Festival, 03/12/2025.
Deep mahogany brown topped with a beige cap.
Nose is dark fruit rinds, cocoa powder, dark malts.
Taste comprises fruit cake, ashen nip, toffee, fruit esters.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, drying close.
Okay cask offering but as per Kenneth wouldn't have guessed a barleywine ... probs a porter.

Hand pulled pint in the Unicorn, Little Dawley, Telford on 22nd November 2025. Clean and clear amber body, white crown. Hop front, leafy, woody and trying to be bitter, malt content stopped that, all a bit unbalanced too me. It just didn't sit right. Scored kindly.
