Half-pint, cask ale at The Anchor. A clear golden body, film-type layer, upper part lacing on the glass. Rather subdued smell of oily hops, with a citric scent. Decent hop fruity flavours of oily hops, and citrus. Semi-dry ending with a bitter twist. Pretty okay. (Birmingham, 24.04.2025).

Cask at Cherry Reds, Birmingham. Clear dark gold with smooth consistent white head, great lacing . Smooth and easy drinking but a bit bland. The noble hops are there but seem dulled. Nice soft carbonation.

Cask at The Head of Steam, Birmingham. Semi-hazed dark gold with smooth just off consistent white head and good lacing. Taste has an odd Neapolitan ice cream flavour without the lactose with some grapefruit, lemon zest and grain. Creamy mouthfeel with an underlying bitterness. Not sure what to make of this.

Cask. Clear gold with small white head. Citrus, stone fruit and grape aroma. Flavours of apricot, lime, gooseberry, grass and flora. Light to medium bodied but slick. A slight acrid burn going down. Could be better but decent enough.

Cask. Mahogany pour with a thin beige top. An odd sweet stout with big berry notes. Also some lactose, liquorice and chocolate. Light roastiness. Slick medium body. Interesting.

Keg draught at the Hop Inn, Swindon. Very dark brown, bordering on black. Ring of tan head. Smells of balsamic vinegar, dark forest fruit, salted treacle, over-roasted marshmallow. Small sips are best with this one. It's a sweet beer with a sour note which doesn't work, I can't tell if it's deliberate or just a bit old. Notes of cherry, more vinegar, a little bit of Marmite. Sourness in the aftertaste. Full body with medium carbonation. Intense.
