Keg at Three Johns. It pours deep red with a sturdy off - white head. The aroma is soft, sweet, jammy, red berry, bread, fruit cake and such like. The taste is dry, bitter - sweet, malty action, jammy red fruits, stewed strawberry, Victoria sponge, bready, wood, leather and some nut with a soft, lightly dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Hides alcohol well. Simple red ale. Not so bad.

330ml bottle. Peach, orange, lemon, lime, floral, biscuit. Fruity and bitter up top but with a messy malt finish. Not a great success.

On tap at Brothers Beer. Smells and tastes like tzatziki. Lots of cucumber, gentle cooling mint, a weird amount of yoghurt and even a savoury wheat note you can pretend is the garlic. Bizarre, and honestly quite enjoyable. Not sure I get much watermelon, but that’s not the end of the world.

Australia Day Beer #5. 500ml bottle into shaker. Sharp citric nose, like cucumber but also like cat piss! Cloudy yellow beer with thin film of suds on top. Numerous fine bubbles arise. Good body, a bit zingy. The finish develops slowly but goes alright. Starts with cucumber then works through a bit of malt on its way to a minty vegetable end. Has a kind of rotting fruit thing going on. Interesting if nothing else.
