Tap at Stapleton Tap House - a very malt foward and rye heavy beer, but with copious citric and woody hops to balance - clear medium copper - soapy lace - somewhat sticky munich and spicy and bready rye in the nose - pleanty of dank hoppiness though, too - flavor of caramel, bready, spicy rye, followed by dank, resinous hops, citrus peel, pine - a bit brash, but still enjoyable - reminds me of hop rod, which is a good thing.

At a tasting, thanks YK23 & eyes_wide_shut, almost no head, opaque very dark brown colour, strong and dominant aroma of bourbon, wood and vanila with just a hint of cherry liquor, sam e traits in flavour with some raisins added, quite strong sourness, heavy sweet aftertaste. Too one dimensional and not easy to drink.

750 c&c from Wine and Cheese in Clayton, MO. Pours hazy gold with a 3 finger foamy creamy white head. Aroma is rather fruity with some yeast. Med body or better. Flavor is quite Belgian with yeast, fruit, and arguably banana ester. It’s pretty tasty - tho not strongly spice or anything. Good solid ale.

Bomber from Wine & Cheese in Clayton, MO. Lemon smell as the cap came off. Hazy lemonade color with a big fizzy white head. Somewhat funky lemon aroma. Med body, almost. Flavor started acidic, citrus, not very sour, turned funky, then got sour. Then left a very, very light sweat sox aspect. Everything about this beer is on a fast track. Good stuff.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Ariel’s place. Thanks YK23 & eyes_wide_shut. 2011 bottling. Black with a foamy beige to ligh brown head. Aroma is cookies-ish, with bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, some dark fruits, some alcohol and light infected notes. Alcoholic flavor with lots of whiskey, cookies, vanilla, a bit of chocolate and fruitiness. Pretty hard to drink, bourbon is overpowering.

Tap @ Crabtree. Pours a fairly clear, yellow appearance with a white head. Sweet juicy strawberry, spicy, vanilla aroma. Refreshing summer fruit flavor that has a fair amount of strawberry but not overpowered by it.
