Description
Independently-owned craft brewery providing North Carolina with quality beers since 1994.

Beginning in 1994 with a 7 barrel converted dairy system, we set and accomplished the goal of providing unique traditional ales & lagers available through OHB. Quickly we outgrew that system.

In 1997, we began the renovation of an 1880 Historic Landmark building, which now houses our brewing facilities, a 25-barrel Price Schonstrom brew house.

Slightly hazy golden coloured body with orange highlights and a dense off-white head. Aroma of nice high alpha-acid hops with some grapefruit tartness and a plentiful malt background. Medium-bodied; Good strong hoppiness in the taste with a strong alcohol kick with a strong malt backbone. Aftertaste shows the hop character lasting long with a good hop bitterness. Malt & alcoholic character goes a long was as well in extending the taste. Overall, a nice beer to be able to sample and a fine example of an APA! I sampled this pint on draught at the Beer Sellar in Knoxville, Tennessee on 02-October-2004.

GABF 2002: Light coffeeish aroma?! Pale straw color. Strong coffeeish bitter finish, not much else.

A little lactic. Interesting woody, vanilla flavours, but this cask was clearly past its prime.

Medicinal aroma; very woody palate - like walking through a lumber yard. Good beer if you like that sort of thing, but I could see a lot of people having problems with this.
