[Cask at Monkโ€™s Retreat, Reading] Amber, slight loose off-white head. Smooth, creamy mouthfeel. Slight woodiness up front, then soft citric fruits, caramel and a mildly bitter finish. Pleasantly easy drinking stuff, but rather bland and boring for an ESB.

Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms (JDW), Bristol 26/04/09. Copper coloured with a slight, off-white head. Aroma of grassy hops with a hint of biscuit. Flavour was similar with a pretty big, bitter finish. Unmemorable.

Cask, Hoylake Lights. Cloudy, murky brown affair with little in the way of head. Sweetish fruit nโ€™malt aroma. Reasonably full bodied and chewy. More malt in the flavour which was slightly nutty. OK but no cigar.

Cask handpull at The Market Porter, London. Gold, lasting off white head. Wow, a bit like a white wine I know, but canโ€™t place. Definite white wine varietal. Good though. Decent aroma, grapey white wine. Wish I could place it. At a stab Iโ€™d say unoaked chardonnay. Solid beer though.
