Half pint at the Barony Bar in Edinburgh. Pure golden body with a little haze. Glass-lacing. Smell og citrus fruits. The flavour contains elements of grapefruit and lemon, accentuated by hop bitterness to the ending. Satisfying British blond ale [14.11.2008].

From cask at Guildford Arms. Pours clear and deep amber with a redish glare and a creamy tan head. Light roasted malty aroma. Flavour is slight chemical yet also mild spiced hoppy to a smooth, roasted and caramelish spiced flavour. Smooth malty finish with lasting roasted notes and towards breadish.

Cask at the Three Mariners, Hythe. Copper with a reddish tint and a ring of white head; rich fruity malty aroma; strong bitter-sweet fruity body, reminiscent of home made raspberry jam; a well-balanced bitter finish. An excellent beer.

Bottle from Sainsbury. Pale chestnut, no head. I guess it’s a mix of a best bitter and an ESB. Decent fruit and dry malt, but it’s been pastuerised to death. As I say the malty fruit is good, but the rest could well be better. Too much candy sugar. Some yeast.

(Cask at Wenlock Arms, London, 9 Aug 2008) Dark amber colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, nutty nose with notes of dark fruit, prunes and coffee. Malty, nutty taste with dark fruit, prunes, raisins, caramel and a nutty finish with slightly earthy hops. Fairly nice one.
