Description
Initiated by 3 young graduates, the Ninkasi was born from a simple idea: to implant the concept of American micro-breweries in France. This project was completed in 1997 and takes place in Lyon, on the Gerland site. In 2012, the factory moved 50km from Lyon, to Tarare more precisely (1 avenue Edouard Herriot). The new playground for our brewers has a capacity of 5,000 liters per brew (i.e. 23,000 HL / year). In 2023, Ninkasi moved to its new brewery, still in Tarare.
Note: The original Gerland location closed for works until 2027.

330ml bottle, from Beer52. Drank at home on 21st May 2020 during the virus Lock In. Impressed. Clean amber pour, lasting white crown on top. Nice aroma and taste, good blend of caramel semi-sweetness and hop bitterness, good depth of flavours and no citrus notes!

330ml bottle from Beerwulf. Poured a crystal clear medium amber colour, with a lasting frothy white head and lots of bubbles. The aroma is toffee caramel malt, light woody hop. The flavour is moderate bitter, light sweet, with a light, crisp, woody, toffee, light floral hop bitter palate and a lingering bitter finish. Medium bodied with average to lively carbonation.

robijnrood bier met weinig schuim. Smaak is zet en warm met duidelijke karamel invloed en iets van zoete bessen. Standaard en goede quadruple wat mij betreft.

[33cl bottle from Beer52 at 5.1% ABV.] An opaque, dark brown pour with a thin beige head; earthy aroma; very sweet taste with roasted barley and red berry fruit; then a drier finish with a touch of bitterness and some warmth. A pleasant dark beer - not sure if it's a stout or a black IPA.

33cl bottle; BB Apr 2021. Poured into a thistle shaped glass at home on 19th Feb 2020. Fast fading head to nothing, the body deep mahogany colour. Dark fruits and red wine in the nose, dark fruits and chocolate in the taste. Really enjoyed the aroma and flavours, pity about the no show of a head.
