Description
Initiated by 3 young graduates, the Ninkasi was born from a simple idea: to implant the concept of American micro-breweries in France. This project was completed in 1997 and takes place in Lyon, on the Gerland site. In 2012, the factory moved 50km from Lyon, to Tarare more precisely (1 avenue Edouard Herriot). The new playground for our brewers has a capacity of 5,000 liters per brew (i.e. 23,000 HL / year). In 2023, Ninkasi moved to its new brewery, still in Tarare.

Note: The original Gerland location closed for works until 2027.

Bottiglia.

Bottle from Hopt. Aroma is sweet brown malt with caramel, red fruits, toffee, some yeast, dark bread. Flavour is medium sweet, body is medium. Curious one, more like a Belgian Dark Ale. Okay, low ratings suggest poor batches.

Bottle from Hopt. Aroma is tartish mango and passion fruit with light bready grainy malt. Flavour is mild sweetish with a little tartness and low bitterness. Body is light. Pretty drinkable mango beer, but simple, could have used some bittering hops.

Bottle from Beerwulf. Aroma is malt with caramel, soft hops, touch of fruits, and a brett infection. Flavour is light to moderate sweet with a mild bitterness. Medium body. I could smell the brett infection a mile away... Surprisingly drinkable considering the unintentional disaster.

Bottle from Beerwulf. Aroma is maltier than I expected with some caramel, piney hop, even a little buttery. Modestly fruity with some citrus. Flavour is sweetish with a moderate bitterness. Medium body. First Brut IPA I've encountered in a while and it's a bit disappointing.
