Description
Initiated by 3 young graduates, the Ninkasi was born from a simple idea: to implant the concept of American micro-breweries in France. This project was completed in 1997 and takes place in Lyon, on the Gerland site. In 2012, the factory moved 50km from Lyon, to Tarare more precisely. The new playground for our brewers has a capacity of 5,000 liters per brew (i.e. 23,000 HL / year).

Bottle @ Ninkasi Part-Dieu, Lyon. Clear deep amber body under a big, dense, tan head. Rather mild aroma with some gentle roasted malt and some caramel. Light and easy taste on the malty side with smooth, light roasted malt, toffee, brown sugar, hint of coffee and balanced bitterness. Medium body with same aftertaste. Quite plain and straight forward, more similar to a Brune than Porter. Quite refreshing actually and decent match for burgers.

Bottle @ Ninkasi Part-Dieu, Lyon. Slightly unclear golden body under a minimalistic white head. Aroma has pure apple and green hops. Taste is medium sweet apple, apple core, grass, green hops and some bitterness with a slightly acidic finish. Unoffensive, easy drinkable but distinct hoppy cider. Not bad.
