Cask at NWAF, 2011. Black pour with a beige head. Aromas of blackberries, chocolate, gooseberries and dark fruits. Fruity nose. Toffee malt flavours with vanilla, chocolate and some light coffee notes. Malty, sweet finish.

Cask (handpump) @ The Bankers Draft, 1-3 Market Place, Sheffield, South Yorkshire England S1 2GH.Clear dark dark brown black color with a average to large, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly to fully lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, burnt, oat, chocolate and coffee notes. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate to light heavy bitter with a average to long duration, dark flavors, oat, roasted. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. Bottle: Deep reddish-amber coloured, floaties visible, small - slowly collapsing - beige head, that leaves rings on the glass; distinctive sweet roasty nose with traces of dried fruits and chocolate (including a little acidity); moderate dry bitter-sweet flavour, almost medium bodied, soft; slightly lingering roasty-chocolatey finish with a light acidity in the aftertaste. Decent and well rounded......

Cask (gravity) @ NWAF 10, National Winter Ales Festival, The Venue, Sheridan Suite, Manchester, England.Clear dark brown amber color with a small, frothy - fizzy, fair lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to light light heavy malty, dark roasted, chocolate, coffee, light to light moderate hoppy, citrus, licorice - english sweet licorice notes. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20100122]

From cask. Pours clear and pale yellow with a small white head. Aroma is citrusy fruity. Fruity, citrusy and slight grassy. Citrusy and bitter finish, slight herbal.

Bottled. Amber colour, small white head. Aroma is honey, a bit nutty, some mild not-too-sweet syrup. Flavour is quite similar with also bigtime caramel. Mild cardboardy notes.

Cask at The Cresent, Salford. An amber beer with no head. The aroma has notes of malt and caramel as well as lighter notes of butter. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, leading to a dry toffeeish finish. The body is light.

14th April 2010. Opaque black stout. Apologetic head. Light semi dry palate that is reasonably smooth as Oatmeals stout usually are. Dark malt, very lightly toasty balanced with some lactose sweetness. A touch of tangy dark fruit rounding things off before the dry finish.

[Gravity cask at the Back of Beyond, Reading] Black with a moderate tan head. Chocolate dominates, with a touch of coffee, cough mixture and sour fruits (plums?). General impression very smooth with a good body, pleasant stout although the flavours lack punchiness.
