Had this 275ml bottle for quite a few years, no idea where I found it, decided today was the day, 9th August 2024. Margie is at the Shrewsbury Flower Show with old nursing friends. So, a mini-tasting with Bertie (my 11 year old Border Collie) was arranged, he seems to have a smelly arse at the moment which isn't helping with my aroma scoring so far. 5th beer in the session, might be the last. No sound came as I broached the cap, so not a lot of conditioning left, a dark foreboding liquid came out the bottle, no head, no life left. Malty cobweb aroma. Rich barley wine like flavour, obviously a little tired and old, but it's still got some flavour and strength even if it's lost it's 'get up and go'. Bertie's farted again, so the air is rancid, what's he had to eat he shouldn't have had? Can I finish the 275ml? Do I want to smell like Bertie? I have a feeling this will 'aid my digestion' somewhat, but I'm going for it (drinking the whole bottle)! I must be crazy, or have some weird drinking disease that kicks in when I'm not looking. If I end up in hospital later I will revamp my write-up.

Historic check-in. Not as bad as the rest of their beers, i.e. just awful

Half-pint by cask, shared with Finn at Euston Tap. Beige bubbly head, next to clear amber body, spotty lacing. Malt-fruity aromas, ripe fruit and caramel. Mixed flavours of leafy hops, a note of pine, and malty sweetness beneath. Quite nice bitter sweet ending. Rounded mouthfeel. Pleasing. (London 07.02.2020).
