Found first at Dirty Dick’s in Halifax. Highly carbonated lager, the head grew on the beer well after it had been poured. Golden-blonde with a very thick head. Not too aromatic, but it has a bubble-gum sweet fruitiness in its taste, which gives it a distinction above ordinary tasting lager. Revisited in 2024 & 2025 at a Holts pub, still a sweetish lager.

Cask at the Ape and Apple - Manchester. Pours clear, bright gold with a dense, lasting creamy topping. Lightly toasted grains in the nose, some leafy hops, bread. Light sweet flavor with bitter grain husk, orange peel, toasted caramel, leaves, earth. Light bodied with fine carbonation and creamy texture. Finishes with more husky grains, dried toffee, leafy bitterness and lightly toasted bread. A pretty OK bitter.

Clear amber beer with a white head. Light hoppy aroma but not much of anything. Flavour has a bit of the same with a dash of citrus fruit but it’s pretty unremarkable.

Cask @ Dirty Dicks, Halifax. Not black, but dark, clear, copper brown with a thick head. It’s a crisp ale, with grainy malts in its taste, and a slightly more pronounced nose in this respect.

Hand-pulled pint on 25th Nov 2015. Not too sure what the other three people who have rated this had, but it’s not the same beer I am rating! Deep, dark brown/ruby red body, off-white head. Rye and Barley Malts in the nose and taste. Semi-sweet with a low bitter finish. OK and I wanted another pint, but the barrel ran out before I got the chance.
