Description
The pub and brewery were taken over by Jospeh Holt in 2013. Some beers are produced at a larger pilot plant at Holt's main site. From 2019 brewing was suspended at this site but appears to have resumed.

Cask @ Ring O’ Bells, Halifax. Golden with a smooth head a smooth drinking texture. Has a small sweet aroma but not great in flavours. Light drinking and could be a session ale.

Cask (handpump) @ Horse and Jockey, 9 The Green Chorlton, Chorlton cum Hardy, Greater Manchester, England M21 9HS.Clear medium yellow orange color with a small to average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting to diminishing, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, fruity, toasted - caramel. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration, sweet fruit, caramel, sharp fruit hops. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20130126]

Cask at the Manchester beer festival 4.6 deep black.. Thin tan head... Soft chocolate roast.. Dark malts... Light nutty riadt.. Soft riadt.. Soft treacle.. Ok

Muddy brown, no head. Ginger and cinnamon dominate the aroma. Extremely sweet and spicy.

Cask. Half pint served in my own Beer Fest glass by one of the charming parish members@Chorlton Beer Fest (6.Jul.2012) Fantastic! Clear orange body, Bitter notes to the nose, grapefruit and prine. Quite exiting taste: quite bitter, with notes of reisin, coriander and citurs. Tobacco. Dry finish.

Cask (handpump) @ NWAF 2012, National Winter Ales Festival, The Venue, Sheridan Suite, Manchester, England.Clear dark red brown color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, burnt. Flavor is moderate to light light heavy sweet and light to light moderate bitter with a average to long duration, dry, burnt. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20120119]

Half pint, hand-pulled cask, brewed especially for the Chorlton Beer Fest no.8, 2012. Clear amber coloured body with a bubbly, white surface. Orange citrus to the nose. Malt-fruity taste including citrus and figs. Nice bitter ending. Well bodied and enjoying (Chorlton Beer festival, 06.07.2012).
