Hotly tipped East London trio Deviant & Dandy are bringing fresh noise to the London brewing scene from their Hackney ex-garage with an exciting mashup of expert brewing and a fearless disregard for taking risks. Head brewer Darren Walker delivers master crafted recipes and has the kind of intense passion for making fantastic beer that you just can’t teach – a bona fide rockstar of the craft community.

Keg at Five Miles, Tottenham. Golden and clear wih a ring of white head. Green coffee, some golden syrup, some tangerines. Sweet taste with a bit of milky coffee bitterness mid-sip, finishing slightly sweeter with a coffee aftertaste. Medium carbonation. Solid enough but hard to get excited about.

Keg at the craft beer Co Islington. A dull pale gold coloured pour with a a fine off white head. Aroma is creamy woody, diacetyl, vanilla. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, vanilla, diacetyl, butter milk, mild infection. Palate is full buttery, moderate oily,. Bollox.

Keg at CBC Holborn, 29/08/18. Golden copper with an off white cap that dissipates to a swirl. Nose is orange squash, grass, light breads, toasted corn, caramel. Taste comprises light orange peel, toasted grains, lemon rind, hint of bread. Medium body coming over a touch thin with faint hop bitterness in a semi drying close. Very poor IPA ... Tipple drinking the same beer here?

Keg at CBC Holborn, 29/08/18. Chestnut brown with a decent light beige cap. Nose is a little thin, light fruit esters, toffee, aniseed. Taste comprises brown bread, toffee, cocoa powder, liquorice, light spice. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. So so affair.

Keg a tight CBC CG - London. Pours clear gold with a frothy, white head. Somewhat malty, with ripening citrus, dry orange peel, pine needles, mellow flinty notes. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Lightly oily in the finish, soft piney bitterness, Sun-kissed pale malts and dried citrus too. Alright.

Keg at the East Street Tap, Brighton. Gold coloured pour with a white head. Aromas of lemon drops, summer fruits, light grain. Flavours of pithy lemon, fresh herb, light spice action. Good, quaffable brew.
