Can from Ghost Whale. It pours clear deep gold with a medium white head. The aroma is pleasant - juicy, sticky, Irn Bru, orange marmalade, sherbet, weedy dankness and candied peel. The taste is dry, bitter, pithy, zesty, lemon, grapefruit, a bit metallic, green, weed, damp grass, straw, herbal and earth with a drying and slightly metallic finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Really nice aroma, but the taste doesn’t live up to it. Decent enough nonetheless.

Can at home in Hackney - picked up at the Bottle Shop, Bermondsey. Pours crystal clear yellow-gold with a fading, foamy white head. Pale grains in the nose, with nips of lemon peel hay, biscuits. Light sweet flavour with more biscuits, simple pale grains, low bitterness, white bread crust, faint papery accents. Light bodied with average carbonation. Lightly sweet in the finish, with almost no hop presence, more pale bread, biscuits, pale grains, straw. Well, they nailed the style. This is really simplistic, and really drinkable. It lands somewhere in the high-brow, regional pale lager category of American pale lager. Good effort.

Can at home in Hackney - picked up at the Bottle Shop. Pours mostly clear gold with a creamy, pure white head. Buttery notes in the nose, some doughy malts, hay. Light sweet flavour with further butter, crackers, faint bitter straw, grain husks. Light bodied with average carbonation. Finishes with some yeasty bread, more dough, soft butter, hay, pale grains. It finishes crisper than it starts, which is good. But I’m not sure those buttery notes ought to be there. So so overall.

Can at home in London - picked up at an offie on Broadway Market. Pours mostly clear, deep gold with a frothy, off-white head. Pleasant citrus notes in the aroma, some orange peel, lightly toasted pale malts, soft grainy notes. Light sweet flavour with notes of husky, lightly toasted grains, grassy bitterness, dried berries, more citrus peel. Light to medium bodied with massaging carbonation. Sturdy bitterness in the finish, some further toasted grains, pine and grass. The bitterness is a bit forward here, but overall it’s decent stuff.

Rather neutral, malty aroma, light yeasty spiciness, cautious grassy hoppy overtones, a touch of orange. Taste is slightly citrusy fruity and grassy hoppy, hints of mandarine and orange, pale malty basis, mild yeasty spiciness. OK.
