Description
It’s safe to say that we like beer. In fact we like beer so much that we started our own brewery and it’s an employment requirement that everyone who joins our team is also passionate about beer. Obviously we’re a business so we have to make a profit each year so we can carry on working in the industry we love. We do that by making the best beer that we can.

Cask at the Crown Inn, Dial Post. Strong citrus aroma. Dark Amber. Not much to the white head, a few whisps here and there. Initial caramel sweetness before a hoppy bitterness materialises. However there’s also a sour vinegar edge to the latter. Light bodied. An oilyness to it. Light carbonation. Long finish. Not that great. It’s OK, but not an overly pleasant edge to it.

Cask at Cronx. It pours clear golden with a medium white head. The aroma is fresh, bright, expressive citrus, lemon - lime, lemonade, bit of kiwi, bit pissy and a touch of biscuit. The taste is intensely bitter upfront, pine needles, resin, grassy, earth, grapefruit rind, some astringency, cheddar and a touch of bread/biscuit in the malt base with a lingering bitter - dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. If anything it’s too bitter !? Good stuff anyhow.

Keg at Cronx. It pours cloudy golden with a small white head. The aroma is fresh, green hops, grass, chive, spring onion, bready and riot stone fruits. The taste is crisp, dry, bitter, grassy, green, weedy, floral, pine needles, touch of spice, citrus peel and resin with a lingering bitter - dry finish. Light - medium body and moderate carbonation. Packs a lot of flavour in, esp for the abv. Rather impressed with what Downlands get up to.

Cask at Cronx Bar. It pours clear amber with a decent white head. The aroma is sweet, juicy, big blackcurrant vibe, raspberry leaf, fruit compote, resin, apricot jam and orange marmalade. The taste is pretty bitter, piney, resinous, wood, tannin, obvious blackcurrant character, fruit compote, nectarine, peppery spice and some brown bread base with a drying finish. Light - medium body and soft carbonation. Pretty flavoursome stuff. Good work.
