Bottle from the brewer’s own stall at Whitney Food Festival. Murky dark brown with a large beige head. Chocolate and dry roasty notes, plenty of fresh green leafyness, and a light lemon note in the finish. Great BIPA, two beers in and I’m loving this brewery.

Bottle from the brewer’s own stall at Whitney Food Festival. The brewer was very enthusiastic and friendly, and I ended up getting a few beers from him. They all come wrapped in paper with the description on, rather than the more conventional glued-on label, as it’s more environmentally-friendly not to use glue. This also makes the bottles look quite striking! This, the first one I tried, was the murkiest of ambers in hue, with a negligible white head. But the smell and flavour more than make up for the looks - really fresh herbs throughout, great freshly picked garden herbs rather than the absinthey flavour you get in some herbal beers. This is balanced against mellow orange in the finish. It’s a tasty, vibrant, refreshing brew. I’m not the biggest fan of wheat beers normally, but I really enjoyed this one. Great first beer from a new brewer, and fortunately I’ve got some more of his to try.

Cask at the 26th Egham beer festival, Egham, Surrey. A dark brown/black coloured pour with a thin beige head on top. Sweet, honey, chocolate on the nose. Tastes slightly sweet, honey, slight chocolate and a definite cherry cola vibe to this.

50cl bottle from Westholme Stores, Goring. An attractive, glossy, cherry cola coloured pour with a tight beige head; aroma of sour fruit with some oats in the background; honey taste, but not sweet, with some purple fruit and drinking chocolate; then a smooth, creamy, but rather thin finish. A nice porter.

50cl bottle from Westholme Stores, Goring. Another gushing opening, resulting in a murky amber pour with a billowing cream head;yeasty aroma with traces of banana and lemon; bready body with lots of tropical fruit to start, then bitter grapefruit giving a clean and crisp finish, with some lingering yeasty spice. A good session IPA once allowed to settle - hopefully the conditioning will improve in the future.

50cl bottle from Westholme Stores, Goring. A gushing start - with only about half the bottle making it to the glass - which is disappointing as this turned out to be a decent beer. An opaque peaty brown colour with a loose, billowing cream head; aroma of toast and oats with some lemony citrus; smooth lactic body with more toasted grains; and a dry lemony pine bitterness leading to a long toasty finish.

Bottle from Drunk Dry, Kidlington, Oxon, Sunday 5th February 2017 whilst cooking a Ragu and making home made pasta. Murky amber, straight away I feel that it’s quite sweet, easy going, no bitterness, fruity but not distinctive. This is fine, it’s a pleasant enough beer but not really rattling my cage. Bottle from Drunk Dry, Kidlington, Oxon, Sunday 5th February 2017 whilst cooking at Ragu and making hone made pasta. Hazy, murky conker brown in colour with a slim white head, this is a very good representation of the style, fruity, with a flavour that very closely mirrors that of the brewers description above. Tangy with good banana and clove flavours coming through, it is a really good beer, not showy nor flashy, just solid, have enjoyed everything that Church Ham have done so far. A6 A4 T7 P3 Ov14 3.3

Bottle from Drunk Dry, Kidlington, Oxon consumed at home Sunday 8th January 2017 Pours black with a large frothy light beige head. Nice aroma, mostly roasty notes on the nose, not really getting the lemony aroma. Loz doesn’t mind it, however she feels it lacks a little in the hoppy department. Soft mouthfeel, fruity with a light bitterness and a touch of burnt toast. Tasty beer, personally I think it is more stout like than a BIPA but regardless it’s really pleasant. A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov13 3.4
