Sampled from a 750 ml corked brown bottle this beer poured a dark brown color with a large foamy tan head that faded quickly and left minimal lacing. The aroma was port wine, tart cherries, a bit of vinegar, wood and malted milk. The flavor was oddly spicy with notes of tart cherries, wood, sourdough bread, vanilla and malted milk. The finish was long with tart cherry, wood and vague spices lingering. Medium body and a bit overcarbonated. Interesting.

When pouring it seems relatively light in colour compared to the very dark beer that ends up in the glass, strange phenomenon. It has a warm malty aroma. Taste is rich, smooth and quite creamy. Flavour is malty and has some sweet dark fruits.

Ruby brown colour with thin receding head. Aroma is a tad alcoholic with some lingering dry fruit in the background. Flavour is a little sweet and fruity at first then fades into something a bit musty and metallic.

Deep amber coloured body with a touch of a ruby hue on the bottom and a thinnish tan head. Aroma of malt, brown sugar and a very mild yeast smell. Medium-bodied; Very metallic and over aerated malt and alcohol flavour with some light sweetness, a touch of yeast and a bit more of the metallic tastes - not too pleasant. Overall, not such a great beer, but not horrible either. Not too great for the style, but some light good tastes remain. I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased from La Bier Tempel in Bruxelles, Belgium on 02-January-2011 for €2.25 sampled in Amsterdam, The Netherlands on 02-January-2011.
