1983 Vintage@Kulminator, 27 yr old when drank: almost no carbonation, very strong porto flavour, hint of sour wine, caramel, chocolate, spices, pretty much flat, the long aging really enhanced the porto-like qualities of this one, great aging

[3/5/11] Bottle at Kulminator in Antwerp. 2004 bottle. Deep brown with a beige head. Aroma of wood, caramel, malt, some cardboard and some fruitiness. Weak sweet sugary flavor with fruits, caramel and almost no sourness. Light-bodied.

26/02/2011 - bottle @ Kulminator - vintage 1983(!) (2011-69)
Clear redbrown to brown beer. Aery off-white head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: port, pretty sweet, spices, tangerine, chocolate. MF: very little carbon, medium body. Taste: orange peel bitter, spices, ginger prickling the tongue, some caramel and dark chocolate. Aftertaste: some mocha, chocolate, little sour touch. Amazing how well this beer is still standing after 28 years!

Bottled (from beerplanet.eu). Deep ambery brown colour with a mediumsized beige head. Aroma is raisins, mild spices, some berries as well as quite sweet malts. Flavour is sweet malts, some spicyness, mild raisins, some berries as well as some mild toffeeish notes. A rather wellbalanced and quite pleasant BSA. Also some mild sourish wooden notes in the finish.

I prefered this one a bit colder.

a little surprised to see this rated so low, i was expecting it rated in the mid 80’s, but there ya go. light amber color and aroma is of typical belgian strong ale fruity and pepper notes. tastes is the same. palate is a little strong, not smooth like most, a little bite. very enjoyable, not too sweet and a little spicy.

Draught at the Belgian Beer Festival in Brussels, 2005. A wit with a slight tart, acidic ring to it (coming from added carbonic acid, I found out later). This gives it something of the flavor of a not-so authentic lambic. Not bad, but needed a little more of that taste, as it was rather bland otherwise, typically sweet and spicy.

bottle from Vinoble-favrskov clear brown, smooth white head. pretty strong buttery aroma, honey, mild sweet spices. sweet flowery flavor, buttery caramel (yet tasty), ends sweet, caramelly, sweet malty and bitter.

Bottle, 0,33l from Koruna pralines, Bratislava. Dark red brown color with nice huge beige head. Aroma, caramel, forest fruit. Taste, chocolate, honey, some spicy hints, dry finish. Drinkable beer.

Sample from bottle, Glunz Beer Expo, April 2010. Finally close to entering all my notes! Pours a nice yellowish ale color, with some good foam on the top. Basic ale smell. Not much fruitiness, just Belgian style ale that comes out nicely from a cold bottle, would probably warm pretty well, too. Good malts (I’m guessing Belgian pilsener malt) and a little bit of hop balance behind it.
