On tap at Maison du Biere, Elsecar - purple body, no head. Rather washed out blueberry taste, rather pithy with not much oomph. Boring really, expected more of a punch.

14th beer of the St Albans bus replacement crawl. Aroma smokey meat, bbq and fruity. Taste follows through but not a massive fan if the style.

Cask at The Colmore, Birmingham. They often do a good cask in this venue and no exception here. Black with small consistent beige head, nice lacing. Has a creamy oat, light treacle, roast, caramel. Smooth medium body, semi drying. Very good.

Cask at Ebenezers, Nantwich. Pours “bitter brown” with a small off-white head and good lacing. Is slow to settle. Not much of an aroma, just some malty hints. In the mouth it is slightly sweet with malts again to the fore. Traces too of traditional hops, honey and (later on) some spices. A little bitterness in the finish. This is nice – a simple beer but done very well.
