Description
71 Brewing Co Ltd. is an independent brewery based in Dundee, Scotland. Since 2016 we have been crafting crisp lagers and seasonal beers inspired by progressive new world flavours and our favourite traditional classics. Our goal; to make beer that is bold but inclusive, refreshing to the last and always packed with flavour.

From the intrigued, new consumer to the experienced beer connoisseur we have flavours and styles that will excite everyone. Quality and consistency are our watchwords but always driven by that creative spark to create something very special.

Bottle at Appellation Wines. Pours black with a thin beige head. Aromas of liquorice, faint chocolate, black olives. Taste is dark dried fruit, light smoke. Clean finish.

Bottle from the brewery. Appearance - golden with a thin head. Nose - orange and apricot and grainy. Taste - light off note around boiled vegetables at the start. Then grainy again. Palate - light bodied and a bit astringent. Overall - something not quite right with this.

Bottle at Appellation Wines. Pours clear pale gold with a thin bubbly white head. Aromas of light sulphur and faint corn. Taste is light sulphur, cooked vegetables. Chalky texture. Sweet finish.

Bottle thanks to the brewery. Appearance - dark brown and a thin head. Nose - toffee going into molasses. Burnt bread. Taste - molasses and hazelnuts. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy and sweet middle section. Dry crunchy finish. Overall - this grew on me.

Bottle at Appellation Wines. Pours clear red-brown with a short-lived thin off-white head. Aromas of toffee and light malt. Light raisin vibe. Taste is biscuit, more malt, nuts. Sweet finish.

Re-rate on 14/01/2021 from 44cl can this time, again thanks to the brewery - much better balance with added bitterness this time! Previous rating 2016. Sample thanks to the brewery. Appearance - golden with a decent head. Nose - sweetcorn and pale malt. Taste - more pale malt and some caramel. Palate - light bodied with a creamy texture. The finish could be fresher. Overall - solid but could be cleaner on the end.

Rerate 220420. Can from the brewery online shop. Pours clear golden with a short-lived thin white head. Aromas of light cooked corn and lemon. Taste is light astringent malt, lemon. Clean and crisp. Bottle at Appellation Wines. Pours clear golden with a thin white head. Aromas of cooked corn and malt. Taste is buttery malt, corn. Sticky finish.
