Description
Inspired by the Wiltshire landscape surrounding us, we work towards being the most sustainable brewery that we can be. Most importantly, when we began and with the right tools in our hands, we knew that we could create a mighty fine pint. A small team then set about with a vision for handcrafting ales from plough to pint. Using barley from our fields and chalk-filtered water from our own source, we’re bigger and bolder than we were then, but with the same knowledge that nothing quite beats the taste of a decidedly good pint after a long day.

Cask Conditioned at Market Porter, London
Amber color; thin creamy head. The aroma is simple, with some fudge. Good flavor, caramel, a bit of sweetness, very light smokey and earthy touch, even cheesy, making it very pleasant. Correct bitterness. Interesting.

Cask@Beer Hunters, Pori. Copper-red, a bit hazy color, decent white creamy head. Light nutty hoppy aroma. Soft palate. Woody-nutty, a bit tart flavor. Decent bitterness - feels stronger than 4.2%. Light sweetish note in the aftertaste. Ok at most.

On gravity at Swindon BF 30/10/08. Dark chestnut in colour with a slight, off-white head. Aroma of red fruit, milk chocolate and earthy hops. Flavour was sweetish with caramel, chocolate and a touch of roastiness, leading to a short bitter finish. Good.

Bottle. It pours a clear, golden body with some carbonation and a small, white head. Biscuity malts, some pine and resin, and fruity hops in the aroma. Almost alcoholic in the flavor, with the same biscuity malts and hop-flavors as in the aroma. There’s some bitterness too, but quite gentle. Finishes in the same way. It’s a quite sweet beer. Sure decent, but not the kind of beer I would like to drink all night. (081018)

[on draught at the Lyndhurst Ale House, Reading] 4.1% ABV when I tried this. Pours an amber-brown with a good, lasting creamy head. Intense floral hop aroma. Soft creamy mouthfeel, with spring flowers in the intial taste. Flavour mellows into a soft earthiness - feels like you’ve drunk an entire flowerbed from the top down! Quite unusual, but very enjoyable and easy to drink. Becomes a little bland in the aftertaste but otherwise a top-notch Spring/Summer beer.
